John A. Barnett, 91, of Garrettsville, Ohio passed away on July 30th, 2026 at Aurora Manor. He was born in Winslow, PA to the late Harry Barnett and Florence Strawcutter.
John married the love of his life, Doris, on June 12th, 1954, with whom he would spend more than 60 years with creating a life full of memories before her passing in 2017.
John worked for First National Supermarkets for 34 years in management before his retirement in 1992. He and Doris then purchased and managed Kool Lakes Campground with co-owners Grant and Ilamae Barnett until 2000.
He loved to entertain and cook for his large family at the “Barn” hosting Christmas, Halloween, July 4th parties and several weddings.
He was always smiling and loved sharing his trains with children which gave him great joy.
John was a veteran who served as an MP in the Army.
John was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his brothers, Roy (Jean) Barnett and Grant (Ilamae) Barnett.
The memory of John will be carried on in the hearts of his many nieces and nephews that are “too many to count.”
Calling hours will be Tuesday, August 11th from 10am to 11:30am with a service to follow at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 8382 Center Street, Garrettsville, Ohio, 44231. Burial will take place at Harrington Cemetery.
