William M. Sponaugle, 88, of Windham, Ohio passed away on July 24th, 2026 at UH Portage Medical Center surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Exchange, WV to the late Arthur Sponaugle and Margaret Singleton.
William worked for Polson Rubber for 20 years and retired from Schwebel’s in 1996 after 20 years of dedicated service.
William had many interests such being outside in nature, hunting, fishing, growing his garden- which he enjoyed sharing with everyone. He was also a member of the American Legion for at least 15 years, enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, going to high school sporting events, and the occasional trip to the casino. But what came first in his life was his family, of whom he was extremely proud of.
William was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters; Gay Noland, Pearl Horner, and Ruth Gowdy.
William will be carried on in the hearts of his long time companion, Eva Szasz, his children; William (Kimberly) Sponaugle, Laureen (Raymond) Cote, his grandchildren; Kevin (Cassandra), Kaytlin (Zackery), Megan (Jason) and his great-grandchildren; Lily, Everett, Calvin, Henry, Edith and Mason.
There will be a graveside service at Drakesburg Cemetery on Wednesday August 12th at 12:00 PM with a luncheon to follow.
