Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary met in Cal’s II, Sky Plaza on April 27, 2026 to advance their community- focused programs going into their 101st year. These included the following activities.

The StoryWalk installation at the park in conjunction with the PCDL and the PCPD; new design and timetable were shown–coming in July–updates quarterly.

The centennial celebrations (1926-2026)– who to be invited to dinner. Installation of Story Walk coming at the park…with festivities.

What new projects to be imagined, what new grants to apply for? Floral plantings at the gazebo?

The Lockbox program will get under way soon : May 16 in Windham, May 30 in Garrettsville, June 6 in Windham. Hours are twelve to four at the fire stations

The bridge abutment mural waiteth upon the muralist.

The Rotary social event will take place at Slim & Jumbo’s on 4/29–appetizers & first drink offered, socialization expected.

Local candidates for the RYLA(Rotary Youth Leadership Award) event are McKenzie Blockinger (Windham) and Chloe Heasley (Garfield). G-H Rotary will be assisting; the event is centered at Hiram College but encompasses all of District 6030..

The sunken garden project waits upon a sheriff’s sale before proceeding.

Rotarians & friends are invited to the Guardians game in support of the Polio Plus campaign; tickets are available now, activities abound.

The Portage County Library, in co-operation with the Akron-Canton Food Pantry is participating in a pop-up food distribution program on the second Tuesday of the month from twelve to two, beginning in July.

The District Conference, recently held– most interesting and informative, focused on 250 Acts of Kindness for community and personal improvement.

The club welcomed Annie Zwisler of the PCDL as a new member; installation will be at a later date.
