Almost green, the March 16, 2026 meeting of Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary did a jig through the following business:
# 1. The Storybook Trail is taking shape, with the advent of a first sponsor (more opportunities are open) and a demo frame is here to see; details coming.
# 2. Next group project is emerging downtown, with info and photos about the possible location of a small park across from the Mill. The village and the Portage County Landbank will be involved; information is still coming in, sponsors are welcome. This will be on the agenda for the next grant proposal.
# 3. The abutment mural awaits healing of the artist and good weather.
# 4. There is interest in having a new international exchange student here at Garrettsville/Garfield (‘bout time).
# 5. G-H Rotary will be assisting in the activities of the RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) coming to Hiram College in June.
# 6. What about SummerFest? Booth? Parade? Who’s covering the event? Attractions/information. To be decided.
# 7. Next community social event coming up April 29? Slim & Jumbo’s ?
# 8. Flowers for village entrance signs–coming up.
Happy Bucks came in for visits to Akron Art Museum and a concert graced by local talent, a son in training (He’s already a good son.), a family outing at a pancake breakfast, success of Shop with a Hero pancake breakfast, all of the local projects.
