The March 5, 2026 meeting of the Twentieth Century Club of Garrettsville was held at the home of Carol Smith , who was assisted in hosting by Shirley Danku and Carol Torda. The Spring Party will take place at the Welshfield Inn. The nominating committee presented the proposed slate of officers for the 2026-2027 club year to be : President–Iva Walker, Vice President– Carol Torda, Secretary–Shirley Danku, Treasurer–Marlene Szabaga, Historian–Kathy Countryman. This was adopted as presented, unanimously.

The evening’s program was presented by Karen Miller, outlining the history and development of the Sugar Bush Golf Course, a well-regarded local enterprise since July 3, 1965. The course was designed by Harold Paddock on land belonging largely to the Kelker family and included a grove of sugar maples; some of the trees are still there.. Land was acquired, big machinery came in, special systems–watering, etc. were laid out, investors joined, the farm cows found new barns, no more ice skating on the pond, club houses expanded, word got out. Sugar Bush is a golf course ‘til the cows come home.

Next meeting will be on March 19, 2026.
