The February 16, 2026 meeting of the Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary was focussed on the Storybook Trail, to become part of the Tom Collins Memorial Trail in the South Street (Bill Phelps) Park, in conjunction with the Garrettsville branch of the Portage County District Library. This involved rejoicing at the acceptance of the project by village council, a proposal to order materials ASAP, discussion of actual construction, thoughts on opening the project to possible community sponsors (and their recognition), thoughts on later addition of benches along the trail and editorial control of any signage. One demonstration pole will be ordered so sponsors can get a good look at their contribution possibilities. There may be an opportunity for companies and individuals to assist in putting it all together and a picnic/party for the dedication. More info will be on social media; stay tuned. Guest list and menu selections for the Centennial Celebration at The Mill were discussed, as was the upcoming District Conference–participation and display by the local club.
Happy Bucks came in for a Florida weekend, a deluxe property on offer, a theatre/dinner evening and “just becuz”.
