Samuel “Blue” Byich, 90, of Windham, OH, went home to his Lord and Savior with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. He was born July 2, 1935, in Nanty Glo, PA, the son of the late Peter and Mary (Grant) Byich.
He was a graduate of Nanty Glo High School, belonging to the class of 1954. Sam went on to join the U.S. Marine Corp. He married the love of his life, Marcia Seese, on May 9, 1959, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Ehrenfeld, PA. The couple moved to Windham, where they resided ever since. Sam joined the Windham Knights of Columbus Council #4433 in 1959 and was a faithful parishioner of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, which was also located in Windham. He was previously active in the Windham Athletic Boosters and coaching Windham youth. He loved to play the slots. Sam also loved attending sporting events, especially those involving his grandchildren, who were the joys of his life. He was an avid fan of the Windham Bombers, Penn State Nittany Lions, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Sam will forever be missed by his children, Patti (Jim) Tutor and Tom (Brenda) Byich; grandchildren, Todd Williams, Brandon Tutor, and Kayte Miller (Josh); great grandchildren, Kase, Kohler, and Malawna; sister, Mildred Fenchak, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Marcia Byich, and brothers, Louis Byich, Paul Byich, Pete Byich, and sister, Mary Byich.
A visitation was held on Friday, December 19, 2025, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. Sam was buried at Windham Twp. Cemetery, privately, on Saturday, December 20, 2025
