The Senior Center is open for breakfast Mondays from 7a-Noon. A full menu is offered from scrambled eggs to Belgian waffles. The Windham Lions Club will have their LAST sausage/steak trailer of the season, October 3rd and 4th, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday across from Circle K. They will also be collecting soft plastics Saturday 10 a.m. to noon. Windham Bombers PTO will also be holding a Bake Sale during Saturday hours.

Barktober 5K Fun Run & 1 Mile Walk

Join us on October 4th at 11:00am for the Portage APL’s eighth annual Barktober 5K Fun Run & 1-Mile Walk! Bring your canine companions (on a leash) for the run, dress up your pooch for our costume contest, and free fall-themed photos with your pets. After the race, stick around for food trucks, kettle corn, hot/cold beverages, and other treats! Rootstown Community Park/Gracie Fields, 4104 Case Ave, Rootstown. Entry fee: $30 donation to APL. The Friends of the Garrettsville Library Book Sale will be held on the following dates: Friends ‘Members Only’ Preview on Thursday, October 9, from 10 am to 2 pm; Open to the public Thursday, October 9, from 2 pm to 6 pm; Friday, October 10, from 10 am to 6 pm; and Saturday, October 11 from 10 am to 2 pm. MaRSI’s 2nd Friday Dinner

The Mantua Restoration Society (MaRSI) is holding their 2nd Friday Dinner, from 4 -7pm, on October 10, 2025. This month’s dinner features mouthwatering entrees, cool salads, and delicious desserts. In addition, the Mantua Historical Society will have a display of historic items about the Mantua Center School at the dinner. The Mantua Restoration Society is not permitted to charge a set amount and cannot mention what similar food might cost in a restaurant. Donations are graciously accepted. Dining in or carryout is available. The dinner is being held at the Mantua Center School Annex located at 11741 Mantua Center Road, Mantua Township. Come join us!

N Bloomfield Harvest Dinner

The annual Harvest Dinner sponsored by the Bloomfield Historical Society will be held on October 15 at 6:00pm in the historic town hall on the square. It will be potluck with ham loaf provided as the main course. All implements will be provided. Guests should contribute salad, vegetable or dessert. The speaker after dinner will be Jason Lee, Naturalist at Mosquito Lake State Park, who will tell us about the owls of Trumbull County with his live birds on hand. These birds will be available to see up close and enjoy. There is no charge but donations are accepted.

From Hiram Hill to City Hall

The Friends of the Hiram College Library are proud to present “From Hiram Hill to City Hall: How Hiram College Shaped My Journey to Mayor,” with guest speaker Rocco Yeargin. Yeargin is a 1993 graduate of Hiram College and the current mayor of Green, Ohio. A Hiram graduate, lawyer, and longtime public servant, Rocco Yeargin served six years on Green City Council before being elected the city’s seventh mayor in 2024. Yeargin will share how his Hiram education prepared him for a career in law, politics, and leadership—and the lessons he’s learned along the way. Yeargin’s talk will be hosted in the Pritchard Room of the Hiram College Library on Monday, October 21 at 7 p.m. The Hiram College Library is located at 11694 Hayden St., Hiram, OH 44234. This event is free and open to the public.
Chili Cook-Off

The Fountain Church will be hosting a CHILI COOK OFF (fund raiser) on Oct 24th at 6pm. Located at 12888 State Route 88 Garrettsville. If you would like to enter your BEST chili in the contest we’d love to have to join in the fun. Entry is $10 a crock pot… and there will be a cash prize for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. There will be gift baskets available for a SILENT AUCTION during the evening as well. To enter your chili call 330-977-1550 no later than October 17th.
