Farmington Senior Center Breakfasts

Mondays

The Senior Center is open for breakfast Mondays from 7a-Noon. A full menu is offered from scrambled eggs to Belgian waffles. Lunches are served T-TH from 11a-1p only $5-plate includes homemade soup or salad, entrée, dessert and beverage. Menu for the week is posted on Facebook, or just call 330-889-2733.

Young At Heart Meetings

3rd Tues of Month

BINGO! At St. Ambrose

First & Third Tuesday

Al Anon Meetings

What can you do when someone close to you drinks too much? Al Anon may be able to help. We meet Tuesdays 7:30 -8:30 pm at the Renaissance Center 9005 Wilverne in Windham or Wednesday 7-8 pm at Hilltop Christian Church, 4572 Prospect in Mantua. Meetings are completely confidential.

Student Chess Club

Loaves and Fishes Community Meal  

Last Thursday of Month

A free meal is open to all residents in Mantua, Garrettsville, Hiram, and surrounding areas. Anyone who needs to stretch their food dollars, or enjoys a homemade meal, is invited. The meal is from 5-6:30pm, the last Thursday of the month, January through October, at Mantua Center Christian Church, 4118 State Route 82 in Mantua Township. We hope to see you there for good food and conversation.

Swiss Steak Dinner

First Congregational Church UCC in Rootstown is having our first monthly fund-raiser dinner of the season on Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 4 to 6 pm. Sit down dinners are being served, as well as carry-out and drive thru.  Dinners are $15.00 and this month includes Swiss steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, salad, cole slaw, applesauce, green beans, corn, roll and dessert.  The church is located at 4022 St Rt 44 in Rootstown Center.  If you are partaking in the drive-thru service, please enter from St Rt 44 and pull up to the back door.

Hiram Historical Society Annual Fundraising Dinner

Join the Hiram Historical Society for An Evening of Community, Celebration, and Support on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the Hiram Christian Church Hall. The evening begins with an optional Garfield Walking Tour at 4:30 p.m., followed by a professionally prepared 1880s-style White House dinner, live harp music, and a presentation by Deb Weinkamer as First Lady Lucretia Garfield. Barktober 5K Fun Run & 1 Mile Walk

Join us on October 4th at 11:00am for the Portage APL’s eighth annual Barktober 5K Fun Run & 1-Mile Walk! Bring your canine companions (on a leash) for the run, dress up your pooch for our costume contest, and free fall-themed photos with your pets. After the race, stick around for food trucks, kettle corn, hot/cold beverages, and other treats! Rootstown Community Park/Gracie Fields, 4104 Case Ave, Rootstown. Entry fee: $30 donation to APL. The 42nd Annual Burton Art Show features the work of artists from Geauga, Lake, and Portage Counties. Visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorite art piece for the Popular Choice Award. This is a FREE event that is open to the public. Friends of the Garrettsville Library October Book Sale

The Friends of the Garrettsville Library Book Sale will be held on the following dates: Friends ‘Members Only’ Preview on Thursday, October 9, from 10 am to 2 pm; Open to the public Thursday, October 9, from 2 pm to 6 pm; Friday, October 10, from 10 am to 6 pm; and Saturday, October 11 from 10 am to 2 pm. Chili Cook-Off

The Fountain Church will be hosting a CHILI COOK OFF (fund raiser) on Oct 24th at 6pm. Located at 12888 State Route 88 Garrettsville. If you would like to enter your BEST chili in the contest we’d love to have to join in the fun. Entry is $10 a crock pot… and there will be a cash prize for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. There will be gift baskets available for a SILENT AUCTION during the evening as well. Any left over chili may be purchased while supplies last. To enter your chili call 330-977-1550 no later than October 17th. (Sorry no late entries will be accepted) see ya there!
