The Class of 2025 may wish to claim responsibility for the excellent weather this weekend. Might as well start out on the rest of your adult life with a great opening event.
The fact that your moms & dads were probably sincerely hoping for a cessation of the downpours which we have been graced with lately may have played a part as well. The evening was as bright as anything that we could have planned for–the chill did not stop a few of the clueless and/or well insulated from showing up in summer-ish garments and shoes with pinky-toes on display, but, hey, your chills, your choice. The speeches were mercifully short–even by the adults/official persons–the student remarks were well done and varied, no mishaps to either graduates or audience were observed. The grounds looked amazing, the band sounded amazing, the choir’s rendition of the National Anthem amazed even themselves, I’ll bet. No telling whether or not the various graduation parties around moved inside or not, but there were probably not very many invites into the pools around the neighborhoods. Altogether, a fine send-off for a very accomplished class.
Go, G-Men !
And then there was Memorial Day. Weather still holding, as of this writing. Last year things got cancelled because of the weather, which threatened but never actually was a problem. I missed my ride in the convertible, but got to do a star turn on the broadcast of the event from Village Hall. Due to the solemnity of the occasion, I signed no autographs; save those if you were ever in my class, they’ll be worth a bundle one of these days–not next Tuesday.
And now, even though it’s “unofficial”, Summer begins. Enjoy.
