JAGHS Presentation on the Interurban Railway

493

The James A Garfield Historical Society invites you to join author Dr. Dan Rager as he discusses his recent publication on the Cleveland & Chagrin Falls (Vol. 6) interurban railway that ran from 1897 thru 1925. His ‘Kaleidoscope’ edition, Vol. 6 is an in-depth and historic look through northeast Ohio’s Cleveland & Chagrin Falls (C. & C. F.) and Cleveland & Eastern (C. & E.) railway interurban systems.

His lecture will explain recent discoveries and remains of Everett & Moore’s electric rail system. The talk will show the juxtaposition between local interurban lines and those of other roads operating around the state. Rager will argue the case for why this and other electric lines were abandoned and dismantled. He will provide proof as to why three sections of right-of-way from Cleveland to Garrettsville were abandoned over different periods.

This intriguing presentation includes an array of early photographs and information not previously known. Rager has authored seven books on the subject which will be available for purchase at the presentation.

The presentation will take place at the Garrettsville Village Hall on Tuesday April 22, at 7 pm.
