Little Mermaid Ballet was a Hit

Garrettsville –  The 8th Count Dance Center presented their rendition of “The Little Mermaid” January 29, 2014 at the Iva  Walker Auditorium before a live audience. The show went on in spite of the bitter cold weather.

ballet-lil-mermaid-055 Ashley Kaiser danced the role of Ariel/ Vanessa while Darian Brogdon danced the role of Prince Eric. The performance also had Emily Yarish as Ursula, Jason Bates, as King Triton, Morgan Lovett as Sebastian, Hannah Bittence as Scuttle, and Cheyenne Cuprak as Flounder.   Natasha Rantilla and Gabby Biltz danced the roles of Ursula’s eels along with many supporting dancers that balanced out the show.

Kaiser danced the role of Ariel to perfection as did  Darian Brogden as Prince Eric. Both of these dancers brought the characters to life, while the supporting cast of dancers added another dimension to the story.  Ursula was believable, yet inspiring, as taunted and manipulated Ariel.  The dancers delivered a fun-filled show that left the audience mesmerized by the performance, yet at the same time, had them dancing in their seats.

Once again they out did themselves with their version of the Little Mermaid and had everyone humming or singing “Under the Sea” before it was over.

The show was directed by Shanelle Waggoner and choreographed by Emily Yarish. The 8th Count Dance Center is located in at 8015 State Street in Garfield Plaza in Garrettsville. Information on the center and the classes they offer can be obtained by calling 330 527-0358
