Farmington Senior Center Breakfasts

Mondays

The Senior Center is open for breakfast Mondays from 7a-Noon. A full menu is offered from scrambled eggs to Belgian waffles. Lunches are served T-TH from 11a-1p only $5-plate includes homemade soup or salad, entrée, dessert and beverage. Menu for the week is posted on Facebook, or just call 330-889-2733.

Young At Heart Meetings

Young at Heart  organization for 55 and older, meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month at the Immaculate Conception Parish Hall.  We gather for meals, meeting and fellowship.  All denominations are welcome.  To attend or for more information call Jackie 330-569-4048.

First & Third Tuesday

Al Anon Meetings

What can you do when someone close to you drinks too much? Al Anon may be able to help. We meet Tuesdays 7:30 -8:30 pm at the Renaissance Center 9005 Wilverne in Windham or Wednesday 7-8 pm at Hilltop Christian Church, 4572 Prospect in Mantua. Meetings are completely confidential.

Crestwood Community Center

Time For Tots

2nd & 4th Wednesdays

Children ages 2-5 (adults stay for fun, siblings welcome) are invited to Time for Tots on the 2nd & 4th Wednesdays of each month from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Our goal is to provide a safe indoor environment for young children to play, craft, enjoy music & burn energy.  Time for Tots will run from 9/11/24 – 5/28/25. We will not meet if Ravenna Schools are closed. No need to sign up for this free event, just stop in and enjoy the fun. Call 330-297-6424 with questions. Loaves and Fishes Community Meal

A free meal is open to all residents in Mantua, Garrettsville, Hiram, and surrounding areas. Anyone who needs to stretch their food dollars, or enjoys a homemade meal, is invited. The meal is from 5-6:30pm, the last Thursday of the month, January through October, at Mantua Center Christian Church, 4118 State Route 82 in Mantua Township. We hope to see you there for good food and conversation.

Shalersville Historical Society

Shalersville Historical Society will hold its annual Christmas pot luck Thursday, December 5 beginning at 6 PM at the society’s museum, 9154 St Rt 44.  Please bring a dish to share; table service and beverages will be provided.  All our members and friends are encouraged to join us  for this festive evening.  Our museum is handicap accessible.  The buildings on the museum compound, including the school, have been freshly painted with monies received from the state and are looking mighty spiffy!   Questions?  Call Judy R @ 330.389.0598 & LMOM

Craft Bazaar

Get ready to shop unique, handmade treasures at the Ohio Women’s Ministry of Mantua Center Christian Church’s Craft Bazaar on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 10am to 3pm at Mantua Center School, 11741 Mantua Center Road, Mantua, OH 44255.  Besides handmade items the bazaar will feature a bake sale, food for lunch, a 50/50 raffle, free parking, and is handicapped accessible.  Come one, come all!!!

Portage County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society

The Portage County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at the Portage County Historical Society, 6549 N. Chestnut St in Ravenna Ohio at 10:00 a.m.   The guest speaker will be Kelli Bergheimer, and her topic is The Hierarchy of Research Archives on Ohio. Bergheimer will discuss how to find hidden genealogical gems in libraries, archives and repositories throughout Ohio. The Chapter will not meet again until February 1, 2025, when Mark Perkins will speak on the Civil War Battle of Scary Creek in Western Virginia. The program is free and open to anyone interested in genealogy or historical research. The Joy of Christmas

The Joy of Christmas can be yours as the Garrettsville United Methodist Church offers presentations by the Chancel Choir, adult Bell Choirs, the Jesu Childrens’ Bells on Sunday, December 8 at 3:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. There will be selections of Christmas favorites which are old and not-so-old, as well as congregational singing of familiar songs of the Christmas season to warm your hearts. Gold, frankincense and myrrh are optional.

Teen Art Club

Teens in grades 7-12 are invited to join the Teen Art Club at the Brimfield Branch on Monday, December 9, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This casual meet-up is a chance to talk art, share works in progress (WIPs), and connect with friends who share a passion for creativity. The event is limited to 10 participants, so be sure to secure your spot for an afternoon of artistic inspiration and collaboration.

Whether you need guidance with computers, phones, apps, or software, these tech-savvy teens are ready to assist. Be sure to bring your device if applicable. While walk-ins are welcome, it’s encouraged to register in advance online or by calling 330-527-4378 and selecting option 3 to speak with a librarian.

Freedom Township Historical Society

JESUS and JAMMIES a  free event!  The Fountain Church at 12888 State Route 88, Garrettsville, north of Route 305- is having a special day for  families, Sunday December 15th at 11 am. Have your kids wear their comfy pajamas and join us at 11 am for free light continental refreshments. Then we will gather the kids to listen to the story about the very first Christmas!  Every family will receive a free goodie bag and each child will receive a free gift. Christmas Candlelight Service

The Annual First Congregational Church of Freedom Christmas Candlelight Service will be Friday, Dec. 20th at 6:30. The First Congregational Church of Freedom is at 8961 St. Rt. 88 in Freedom  (Windham mailing address.) Debbie Sommers our organist will play the hymns. Renee Ruley plays the piano.  Pastor Jody Hill will give the message.

The church has a ramp for wheelchair access to the church.

Teen Read-A-Thon
