Alzheimer’s Association Hosts Free Dementia-friendly Screening of New Wicked Movie

97

The Alzheimer’s Association Cleveland Area Chapter invites the community to a free dementia-friendly screening of the new movie Wicked just after its late November release. The event will take place on Tuesday, December 3 at noon at the Cedar Lee Theater, 2163 Lee Road, Cleveland Heights OH 44118.

To accommodate guests with Alzheimer’s and dementia, the movie will be played at a lower volume and lights will be left on in the theater. There will also be wheelchair accessible seats, family accessible bathrooms and a small audience size. Free snacks will be provided and guests will be encouraged to socialize before the film.

Anyone interested may register by calling 216.273.4228 or emailing lmritt@alz.org.

“This special day will give families a chance to enjoy a movie together in a setting that is safe, inclusive and supportive,” said Lexi Ritt, support group program manager for the Alzheimer’s Association Cleveland Area chapter. “We’re so excited to work with the Cedar Lee to offer this unique experience at a time of year that can be very stressful for families.“

Nationwide, nearly seven million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s dementia, including 236,200 in Ohio. Those concerned about themselves or a loved one can contact the Alzheimer’s Association Cleveland Area Chapter at 216.342.5556 to schedule a care consultation and be connected to local resources.
