D1 Training, a leading fitness concept utilizing the five core tenets of athletic-based training, will be opening a new location in Aurora at 18825 North Marketplace Drive on August 19 to founding members. The group fitness facility employs a sports-science backed training regimen led by certified trainers to help people of all ages achieve their sport and fitness goals.

In celebration of the new location’s launch, Aurora neighbors and residents are encouraged to stop by the facility starting the week of August 19th, to meet the team and begin taking trial classes during their limited launch.  The facility will open its full class schedule starting September 2nd, and host its grand opening party towards the back end of the month.

Local owner, Danny Spond will join a roster of impressive existing franchisees and owners, some of which include professional athletes such as Super Bowl MVP Von Miller, Tim Tebow and Michael Oher. Plus, with more than 10 years of experience in the business industry, Spond is poised for success as a business owner in the fitness space. Spond is a lifelong proponent of health and fitness, culminating in a football career where he played and started at outside linebacker for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish from 2010 – 2014, starting in the 2012 national championship game. He has always had a passion to work and train the next generation of athletes in their respective sports, making the D1 Training franchise opportunity a perfect fit.

“Sports training is the best way to be able to grow physically, socially and personally, and I am so excited to help all current and former athletes reach their respective fitness goals, here in Northeast Ohio,” said Spond. “I have always had a passion for serving others, and bringing the D1 Mission and Values to our community, is how I plan to deliver on that calling.”

D1 Training offers four age-based programs including Rookie (ages 7-11), Developmental (ages 12-14), Prep (ages 15-18) and D1 Adult. Each fitness program is based on the five athletic-based tenets: dynamic warm-up, performance, strength program, core and conditioning, and cool down. Outside of group workouts, D1 Training offers one-on-one training with world-class coaches. The goal is simple: to continue to train athletes who are dedicated to their sport or their fitness goals, regardless of age or athletic background.

“Spond is the ideal candidate to bring the D1 Training experience to Aurora, with his background of playing high levels of collegiate athletics at Notre Dame,” said the brand’s Chief Operating Officer, Dan Murphy. “We’re thrilled to welcome Danny to the D1 family and are confident in his ability to show the Cleveland area what they’ve been missing out on. D1 is a one-of-a-kind fitness experience that’s built around the individual and meant to help people meet their athletic goals. Our strong network of franchisees embodies our core values to bring the D1 Training vision to life, and we know Spond will do just that in Aurora and its surrounding communities.”

Strategically expanding across the nation through franchising, D1 Training has more than 100 performance centers open, with over 100 additional locations in various stages of development. The brand is currently seeking qualified and active community members to expand its footprint and help more people meet their fitness goals.
