15th Annual Christmas Auction

The Warren Township Fire Department Station #47 Auxiliary will hold their 15th Annual Christmas Auction on Dec 8th at 2pm at Johnson Community Center at 800 Gillmer Road in Leavittsburg. Slated for auction will be all new merchandise including toys, tools, games, decorations, collectibles and porcelain dolls. The Fire Department Auxiliary will benefit from the proceeds. Refreshments will be available on the day of the sale. Doors will open at 1pm.

Christmas Parade

Ravenna Balloon A-Fair’s annual lighted Christmas Parade “Treasures Under The Tree” will take place downtown Ravenna on Main Street at 7 pm. on Dec 7th. Line up begins at 6pm at the corner of Main Street & Myrtle and at East Plaza parking lot. The parade includes themed floats, dancing and marching groups. Leading off the parade will be the Ravenna High School Band under the direction of Drew Adametz. Santa Claus straight from the North Pole will arrive on a Ravenna Fire Truck. Local youngsters will have a chance to share their Christmas wishes with Santa following the parade at the Buckeye Mini Mall, located at 250 E. Toy Drop Off

New Mercies Community Church at the corner of Butternut and Aquilla roads is holding a Chinese auction on Dec 7th. Doors open at 4pm, auction starts at 6pm. Admission is $5 with 25 bidding tickets and $3 each additional sheet some of the prizes include a $250 grand walk-in kitchen donated by Step 2, a girl’s bike, a $50 Cleats gift card and a $75 cheese basket from Cabot’s, along with over 300 other wonderful items. Hidden in Plain Sight

Hidden in Plain Sight, an awareness program for parents and other adults will be held Dec 10th at Crestwood High School in Mantua. Doors open at 7:15 and presentation will begin at 7:30. There will be an astonishing, interactive exhibit designed to resemble a teenager’s bedroom, which contains 150+ items which may be indicative of risky behaviors such as substance use, violence, eating disorders, juvenile crime, technology, risky games/challenges and more accompanies by a PowerPoint presentation and discussion. Community Center Open

The Community Center at Mantua Center will be open on Wednesdays December 4, 11, and 18. Coffee and tea are always available, as are a jigsaw puzzle to help construct, a choice of board games, and a variety of craft materials and books for kids. We have a potluck lunch at about noon, and we always seem to have a good variety of food to share. Hours are 10am to 4pm, reopening for a 7pm yoga class. Enter the south entrance of the single story addition behind the old Mantua Center School, just north of SR82 on Center Rd. We will be closed on Dec. 25, and Jan. 1 because of holidays. The Angel Shoppe Craft Show and Santa Shoppe will be Dec 14th from 10 am to 3 pm at Huntsburg Congregational Church, 12435 Madison Road, Huntsburg. A variety of craft and vendor tables will be there. Children should bring their gift shopping list so they can shop with our help from our adult elf, their purchases will be wrapped to remain a surprise. There will be a delicious lunch menu available, eat in or carry out. Proceeds will go to Sunday school projects.
Live Nativity

The Hambden Congregational Church located at 13840 G.A.R. Highway, Hambden Twp., Ohio 44024 invites you and your family to come and witness a live outdoor nativity on Dec 14th from 5-8pm. See Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, shepherds, Wisemen, and live animals. Come inside and view numerous Nativity sets on display inside our original historical Sanctuary. Seneca Ponds & Black Maple Woods

Join naturalist Bob Faber at 1:00pm on Dec 14th to explore two preserved natural areas and some surprise accidental preserves tucked into the landscape of busy Streetsboro. Seneca Ponds is a Portage Park with trails traversing several types of woodland communities on the edge of the headwaters of Tinkers Creek. Black Maple Woods is a forested area of the city park that contains large old growth trees including the rare and unusual black maple. Leader: naturalist Bob Faber. Breakfast with Santa

The Palymra Fire Department and the Palmyra Fireflies will be hosting the 7th Annual “Breakfast with Santa.” The breakfast will be held at the Palmyra fire station on Dec 14th from 8-11am. Santa will be arriving at 8:30 am on a fire truck! Breakfast will include pancakes, sausage and a beverage. Cost is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for ages 4 – 10; 3 and under are FREE. Along with Breakfast with Santa you will receive one 4×6 photo and frame per family. Additional pictures will be available for an additional $2.00 each. Non-perishable items are also being collected to help our adopted family this year during the holiday season. Come and join the fun with Santa and the Palmyra Fire Department and help a needy family enjoy the holiday as well.

Chinese Auction

The Garfield Band Boosters will be having a Chinese Auction on Dec 15th from 2-4 pm during our “Sounds of the Season” winter concerts. The auction is open to the public and will be held at Garfield High School. Please also join us for some great holiday music as the high school concert band and choir will perform at 2 pm followed by the middle school concert at 4 pm. Between concerts, light refreshments will be served and the high school “Swing Machine” jazz band will perform. All Garfield band concerts are free and open to the public.

Eagles, Swans & the Lost Landscape

The crenulated shoreline, scattered islands, and hidden coves are clues to the rolling glacial landscape that now lies below the placid waters.
