LG Chem Ohio consists of a three-story Customer Solutions Building and a one-story ABS Compounding Building
Geis Companies, a multi-generational & national, family-owned real estate firm, has completed construction on a massive manufacturing facility in Ohio for LG America. LG Chem Ohio is a 240,000-square-foot facility consisting of two separate buildings. A three-story, 100,000-square-foot Customer Solutions Building and a single-story, 148,000-square-foot Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) Compounding Building.
The project, located at 310 Rayann Parkway, Ravenna, Ohio, was awarded to Geis in February 2022, and construction began soon after.
“The team at Geis was thrilled with the opportunity to work with the innovators at LG.” said Conrad Geis, President at Geis Companies. “Utilizing the preliminary design package from LG, adjusting it to meet local building codes while factoring in the regional weather conditions was a challenge that we not only embraced but were excited for. The end result speaks for itself and we look forward to continuing to welcome LG to the community for years to come.”
Geis Companies worked to assess and find solutions for all project challenges. One issue that arose was the early determination that the building’s power was not sufficient for operation. Geis and First Energy in Ohio worked together to engineer a transmission line and substation that is now owned by LG and will power the facility.
There was significant coordination with the LG design team in South Korea, the Geis Construction provided turnkey, Design Build services, acting as the local architect of record. Geis designed the building in 3D and lead the BIM coordination efforts.
