20th Century Club learns about Kecoat, LLC

Maureen See, assisted by Jan Boehm and Carol Torda, entertained the Twentieth Century Club of Garrettsville at their January 19, 2024 meeting.

Upending the usual order of things, the program opened the event, as Tracy Macek gave a panoramic and informative presentation on KECOAT, LLC, a family-owned and operated business in the community, and its moving spirit, Darrin Macek (who just happens to be her husband). This company does custom fabrication of all kinds, including the equipment itself, restoration, coatings–particularly in the horticulture industry, safety platforms, staircases, custom furniture, handrails, polishing–quite the array of skills & techniques, imagination & problem-solving. The company has worked at Rocket Mortgage Field House, done historical restoration and been in a Netflix documentary–”American Factory”. And to think that it all started (and continues) with rubber carnival frogs! Look for their colors–blue and yellow–wherever you see classic custom equipment and structures. They were off (as soon as the meeting was over) to a trade show; they had plenty to show.

Roll call for the meeting consisted of gardening tips and uncovered some new thoughts on the use of potting soil, Epsom Salts, copper pennies and Tums (Yes, those Tums.)as well as warning about over-watering.

Some changes will be coming to the March 21 meeting but it will all work out. The refreshments were tastily excellent.
