Aspire Programs 

Mondays & Wednesdays

The Portage County Maplewood Aspire Program will begin offering GED, Adult Diploma and ESOL classes at the Kent Free Library on Wednesday, January 3rd from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays during this time. Prospective students are required to first attend an orientation session prior to entering class at the Kent Free Library. Please call 330-235-0020 to schedule orientation. Orientation sessions are offered every 2 weeks throughout the year, during both the morning and evening. Overeaters Anonymous Meetings

Mondays

Overeaters Anonymous (a community of people who support each other in order to recover from compulsive eating and food behaviors) meets in person every Monday, except legal holidays, at 10:00AM in the parlor of the First Presbyterian Church of Warren, 256 Mahoning Av NW, Warren, OH 44483. Please enter through the “Fellowship Hall” entrance on driveway. We look forward to meeting you! 

Farmington Senior Center Breakfasts

Mondays

The Senior Center is open for breakfast Mondays from 7a-Noon. A full menu is offered from scrambled eggs to Belgian waffles. Lunches are served T-TH from 11a-1p only $5-plate includes homemade soup or salad, entrée, dessert and beverage. Menu for the week is posted on Facebook, or just call 330-889-2733.

The James A Garfield Historical Society meetings are held on the 3rd Monday of the month at 7:00p.m. at the Mott building (corner of 82 and High street.)  Help preserve our History.

BINGO! At St. Ambrose

Young At Heart Meetings

2nd Wednesday of each month (Sept 13, 2023 – May 8, 2024) from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Maplewood Christian Church 7300 State Route 88 in Ravenna. Come experience a safe indoor environment where children ages 2 – 5 can play, craft, enjoy music and burn energy (adults stay for fun, siblings welcome).  We will not meet if Ravenna Schools are closed. American Legion 674 Fish Frys

Live Nativity at St Joseph Parish

The NGCC caters to individuals residing within the James A. Garfield Local School District. Our food pantry warmly welcomes all members of the community on distribution days. If you’re new, kindly bring along your driver’s license or state ID card, a utility bill reflecting your name and address, as well as the names and birthdates of each household member. For our existing members, please ensure you have your valid license or state-issued ID handy for the distribution.

Tech Help from Teens will run on December 5 and from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. Patrons can drop-in with technology questions and local Garfield High School students will be on hand to help. All tech can be covered, computers, phones, apps, software and more.

Shalersville Historical Society Potluck

Cookies with Santa

Come join Santa for cookies, cider, hot chocolate, a craft and goodie bag (while supplies last). Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Freedom Town Hall, 8966 SR 700.

Harvest Point Church Drive-Thru Nativity

On Saturday, December 9, 2023, Harvest Point Church, 2121 Salt Springs Rd., Lordstown’s, Ohio, will host a Drive-Thru Nativity from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Enjoy listening to the Christmas story while in the comfort of your vehicle and, at its conclusion, step inside for a homemade cookie and hot chocolate reception.  The event is free and all are welcome.

Free Clothing & Diaper Giveaway

St. Joseph Cares will be holding their next Free Clothing & Diaper Giveaway for the greater Crestwood area on Saturday, December 9. A collaborative effort of area churches providing free clothing to families in need, the event will be held at St. Joseph Church (11045 St. Joseph Blvd., Mantua) from 9 a.m. to Noon in a downstairs classroom in the school building. Breakfast With Santa

The Knights of Columbus are hosting breakfast with Santa on December 9th in the hall at St. Ambrose Church, Garrettsville.  Breakfast will run from 10 am – 11:30, Santa arrives between 11 – 11:15. Breakfast is free but we request an item per attendee for the local food shelf.
