Sibling G-Men Qualified For AAU Junior Olympics

Trinity and Angel Williamson, students at James A. Garfield Elementary and Middle Schools respectively, have qualified for the AAU, (Amateur Athletic Union), Junior Olympic Games to be held in Detroit, Michigan in July 2013.  Angel is qualified in Black Belt Poomsae boys age 13-14 and Trinity is qualified in Black Belt Sparring girls age 10-11.  Both Angel and Trinity are second degree black belts and hold ATU, American Taekwondo United, National titles.  Angel is the 2012 National Bronze Medalist in Black Belt Poomsae Boys age 11-12 and Trinity is the 2012 National Sparring Champion Girls age 9-10.  Angel and Trinity will be joined by the 7 team members Taniya Desousa, Zachary Jackson, Nicholas Anderson, Joshua Saxton, Alyssa and Mathew Haines and Team Captain Clarence Noronha.  Clarence is also defending past national and Junior Olympic titles.  Clarence was the 2009 AAU National Bronze Medalist in Sparring and the 2009 Junior Olympic Silver Medalist also in Sparring. The team will be under the instruction of Grand Master Won K. Chun.  The athletes are responsible for all of their own expenses and therefore will be holding several fundraisers.  A local fundraiser is being held at Skylane Bowling.  Scotch Doubles will be held Sunday June 9th at 1:00pm.  Tickets are $40.00/couple and include 3 games of bowling, pizza, beer, pop or coffee.  There will also be a Chinese auction and 50/50.  For more information contact Christine Williamson, SMATC Parents Organization cchiap2@yahoo.com 330-842-7722
