Every September the EPA promotes their SepticSmart program which is a nation-wide initiative to share information on the proper care and maintenance of home wastewater treatment systems. With funding provided by a watershed grant through WRLC & Dominion Energy, local organizations are teaming up to offer a hands-on, make-and-take workshop on Saturday, September 23rd – 10:00 AM to noon at Portage SWCD, 6970 OH-88, Ravenna.
The Portage Health District, the Portage County Master Gardeners, and Portage Soil & Water Conservation District will provide tips for proper septic system maintenance, landscaping on and around septic systems, and green cleaning alternatives. All participants will receive free plants that are appropriate for planting in these areas. Our make-and-take program will also send participants home with a few green cleaning supplies. Space is limited and registration is required.
