Josephine “Susie” Mason, 91, of Garrettsville passed away surrounded by her loving children on Monday, February 20, 2023. She was born on January 9, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Louis and Josephine (nee Hejl) Fortuna.

She enjoyed traveling, visiting European countries several times and attending the Passion Play twice. Susie and Bob would go to the Bahamas yearly and traveled to Florida several times. She took Amtrack across the United States twice and one-time returning home via the Canadian route. Susie loved to go hiking, hiking enough of the Portage Parks one year to earn a walking stick and medallion and another year a medallion. She loved visiting greenhouses to look at all the flowers and was proud when her cannas would grow taller than her. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, coloring in her books, and going to the movies. She was proud to tell people that she painted her own house, trimmed all of the trees and cut her own lawn up until her knee replacement at around age 85. She loved traveling to Put-in-Bay with Julie and Joe and going to Florida with Vicki. She was especially proud of her granddaughter Brittany and would do anything for her. She also loved animals and is already missed by her many cats.

Susie will be deeply missed by her children, Vicki Mason and Julie (Joe Tomsich) Watson; granddaughter, Brittany Watson; siblings, Daniel (Helen) Fortuna, Nancy (Robert) Ray, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert; sister, Theresa (Bruce) Olmstead.

Visitation for Susie was held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm with a funeral service immediately following at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services 8382 Center Street Garrettsville, OH 44231. Burial followed in Harrington Cemetery, Nelson Township, where Josephine was laid to rest beside her beloved Bob.
