This week, Portage County residents aged 80 and older are eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccine. To be placed on the Portage County Health District (PCHD) vaccine scheduling list, go to the PCHD website at www.portagehealth.net and click on the COVID-19 tab in the green banner at the top of the page. Residents who do not have internet access can call the health district at 330-296-9919 and dial extension 400. Residents will only be asked to provide name, date of birth, county residency, and age. PCHD will NOT ask for social security number or address.

Once registered, a person stays on that list. There is no need to register multiple times or call the health district each week.

This registration process does not guarantee a person a COVID-19 appointment within the week of eligibility. Appointments are made on a first come, first served basis based on the phased approach outlined by the ODH. When a new age group begins, vaccinations may not be complete for the previous age group. It will take a number of weeks to distribute all of the vaccine given the limited doses available.

There are several providers of COVID-19 vaccine in Portage County. If a resident can be vaccinated by one of these providers, they are encouraged to do so. The additional providers include:

Discount Drug Mart1763 East Main Street, Kent330-725-2340
Marcs Pharmacy Aurora300 Aurora Commons Circle, Aurora330-995-9260
Marcs Pharmacy Ravenna1145 East Main Street, Ravenna330-298-3654
Giant Eagle Pharmacy Ravenna909 East Main Street, Ravenna330-297-7366
Giant Eagle Pharmacy Rootstown4246 State Route 44, Rootstown330-325-7967
Giant Eagle Pharmacy Streetsboro1280 State Route 303, Streetsboro330-626-2407

PCHD is providing mass vaccination clinics each week for Phase 1B. Vaccine is extremely limited and the number of people scheduled for these clinics is based on vaccine availability. Because of the limited vaccine, Portage County Health District is only serving Portage County residents. Individuals registered to receive a vaccine will be contacted either by email or phone with an appointment day/time/location if they are next in line to receive the vaccine.

PCHD has received 1200 doses of Moderna vaccine to date (since December 21, 2020). PCHD continues to administer 100% of the vaccines received each week; currently vaccinating Phase 1A (healthcare providers, etc.) both 1st and 2nd doses and Phase 1B (individuals 80+).
