Local Supplier Provides Unique Gift Options

4555

You may have run into Stacy McDivitt at any of the area farmers markets to pick up some locally-made maple syrup, BBQ sauce or maple vinaigrette. Now that the farmers markets have closed for the season, you can find those same delicious items at their newly opened McDivitt Gourmet Maple Products storefront in Southington. And in addition, the shop opens at 6 am each day, serving up hot coffee and breakfast items to busy commuters, locals, and maple-lovers far and wide.

You may notice the puzzle pieces integrated in their logo. The couple’s lives were changed when they learned their son is autistic. “Autism has changed us forever,” McDivitt shared, “but without it we wouldn’t be here.” In fact, the company pledged to give a portion of their sales to a local nonprofit Autism organization.

Though McDivitt and her husband are proud maple-producers, she knew she needed to provide something else to get people in the door every day. Selling coffee and breakfast items, breakfast sandwiches on house made croissants that feature local eggs and meat, courtesy of some of the producers she met at local farmers markers just made sense.  The eggs come from Next Generation Farms, while McDivitt sells specialty baked goods from Top Tier Pastry and Ginger’s Gluten Free Bakery.

“I stopped by on Thursday for a Sugarhouse Latte,” Sherri noted. “Now I’m hooked!” Lindsay, who visited recently offered her critique. “Nice atmosphere, great products, friendly service, delicious food and drinks!” Roy added, “I have tried many of their products and love every one. I think the maple pecans are my favorite, and the granola in my yogurt is great. And the maple balsamic vinaigrette dressing is, oh, so good.”

Krista shared, “Try the vanilla-infused syrup, the maple spread or the maple pecans…just to name a FEW of my favorite things!”

With the emphasis on local products, McDivitt’s also sells a variety of food and gift items as well, and can create custom gift baskets or boxes for your holiday needs. You simply choose your container from an assortment of baskets, holiday boxes, or even a vintage maple sap bucket. Select your choice of maple syrup, nuts, sauces, granola, candy or other items and McDivitt can prepare the basket for gifting. Items featured in the shop, which include handmade artisan soaps from Bitty’s Bath Shop, fused glass pieces and jewelry from HCG Designs, quilted ornaments and Christmas stockings, and local products from Me and My Honey can also be included in your baskets.

With the emphasis on local products and producers, it’s not surprising that McDivitt’s will be open November 30th for Small Business Saturday, starting at 6 am. Stop by for the house specialty — Sugarhouse Latte, and take your time selecting items for a one-of-a-kind basket for someone on your gift list. You’ll be glad you did!

McDivitt Family Maple Products is located at 3528 State Route 422 in Southington (It’s the second building past the State Highway Patrol heading west.) For more information, visit them on Facebook.
