Grief Support Group
Sundays
Grief Group meets every Sunday at 3 pm. The meetings are held at Garrettsville United Methodist Church and last about 1 – 1 ½ hours. Everyone is welcome. For questions you can call the church at 330-527-2055.

Mondays
Men on Mondays, a men’s Bible study, is held every Monday from 6:45 – 8 pm at the Cellar Door Coffee Shop in Garrettsville. Coffee and pastry provided at no charge.

We have a new location for our monthly meeting – Ravenna Library, 167 East Main Street, Ravenna Ohio in the Carlin room. Come and see what we are all about! Recovery after Suicide Loss Support Group
Last Weds of Month
If you or someone you know has lost a loved one to suicide, we invite you to attend a free monthly support group to find acceptance, information, and inspiration. The support group meets the last Wednesday of each month at the Kent Free Library located at 312 W. Main Street, Kent from 6:30-8pm. The group is sponsored by the Portage County Suicide Prevention Coalition and the Mental Health & Recovery Board of Portage County. For more information call 330.673.1756 ext 201.

Portage Senior Citizens Opportunities

The Portage County Senior Center, located at 705 Oakwood St., in Ravenna has many daily opportunities for local seniors to enjoy. On any given day, you can enjoy, bingo, Tai Chi, educational programs, art class, corn hole, cards & dominos with friends, and they even have a pool table. They serve lunch daily (by reservation) and are open M-F from 9-3. If you would like more information you may call them at 330-297-3456.

The Phyllis Zumkehr Portage County Clothing Center, which is located at 3377 State Route 59, Ravenna, is looking for volunteers to help with sorting, hanging and stocking clothing and helping customers. Hiram Community Band Rehearsals
Hiram Community Band is looking for participants for 2019! Rehearsals are on June 12 (W), 20 (Th) and July 1 (M) from 7-9 at Frohring Hall at Hiram College, with performance at 4PM on the 4th of July. It’s OK if you have to miss one rehearsal. We particularly need woodwinds, French horns and percussion, but anyone who can play a band instrument and can read music is welcome. Contact Jeffrey Quick at jaq@case.edu

Annual Streetsboro Sportsman’s Ladies Shoot

The Streetsboro Sportsman Association is hosting a Lady’s Shoot on May 25 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Lunch as well as all ammunition and firearms will be provided. Cigar Box Planter Workshop

On Friday, May 31, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. a cigar box planter workshop will be held in the Brick Room of the James H. Barrow Biological Field Station at 11305 Wheeler Rd., Garrettsville. Participants will decorate a wooden cigar box and fill it with soil and succulents. Corn Hole At Senior Center

The Portage County Senior Center will be starting a new 12-week session of Corn Hole. The game is held indoors and the seniors always have fun, lots of laughs and of course enjoy great socialization while getting a little exercise too. The Garrettsville Cemetery Association will hold their next meeting on Wednesday, June 26, at 6:30 pm at the Historical Society building. The change of date is so that it does not conflict with Garfield Historic Society’s Cemetery Summer Series which will be held the third Wednesday of June, July, August and September, at the different cemetery each month.

Headwaters Adventure Race

RUN, PEDAL and PADDLE for trails and watershed conservation! Run 2 miles on the Headwaters Trail; Bike 10 miles on rural roads past scenic landscapes; Paddle 5 miles on the Upper Cuyahoga Scenic River. Participants can race SOLO or on a TEAM. Race registration rates: Individual with kayak rental – $59; Individual without rental (SAVE $10!) – $49
