Newton Falls – The Newton Falls Community Easter Egg Hunt was an absolutely fabulous day with sunny skies just perfect for the kids.
This was the 66th year the hunt has been held, sponsored by the Girl Scouts. Nearly 8,000 eggs were placed, each filled with candy, prizes, or pictures that could be exchanged for prizes. Children were divided into four age groups — from 2 through 10 years of age — with a grand prize in each age group.
The Grand Prize winners were Aubrie Hughlett, daughter of Jeanie Hughlett in the 2-year-old group; JoJo Birchak, daughter of Courtey and Ron Birchak in the 3-4-year old group, Abigail Mattern, daughter of Brandon and Brandy Mattern in the 5-7 year old group; and Serenity Davis, grandaughter of Brenda Moore in the 8-10 year old group.
Workers helping to staff the hunt were Vickie Peace, Brenda Moore, Emalea Moore, Samantha Lewis, Steven White, Ryan Davis, Serenity Davis, Lillian Stiles, Dan Kandiko, Jean Kandiko, Kathy Begeot, Nelson Begeot, Marvin Saylor, Brandon Dobson, Ron Sullivan Jr, Ron Sullivan, Scarlet Bonnets without whose help those thousands of eggs would never get stuffed, Chrissy Roland, and Shara Sullivan, Hunt Coordinator.
