Freedom Twp. – Freedom Township Historical Society is always looking for old pictures of Freedom homes, families, businesses and old schools, especially our one-room schools # 2 (the one we’re restoring on Rt 303) and # 8 (on Rt 88 where Hewins Rd ends). Please DO NOT THROW THOSE AWAY! Call Judy at 330.527.7669 & I’ll be happy to make a copy or take a picture of your picture. These resources from the past are priceless & we want to preserve them for future generations. Also, our May program will feature Freedom Barns; I have taken pictures of some of the barns still standing, but would be thrilled to take a picture of your picture, especially those aerial views that were sold to farmers over 50 years ago. Don’t be hesitant; there is no barn too small or unimportant to be included.

We are currently conducting our 2019 annual membership drive. Memberships are: individual – $15, family – $25, student – $5, corporate – $100, individual lifetime – $150, family lifetime – $200. In addition to memberships, memorials may be made at any time by listing the name of the donor and the name of the person being memorialized. We are also accepting donations for the renovation of our one-room school # 2. Memberships, memorials, & donations can be mailed to Treasurer Judy Thornton, 9764 Nichols Rd, Windham, OH 44288. Incidentally Freedom did have its own Post Office at Freedom Station until 1957. Now four area post offices (Garrettsville, Mantua, Ravenna & Windham) deliver mail to Freedom Township residents.
