The Portage County Senior Center, located at 705 Oakwood St., in Ravenna has many daily opportunities for local seniors to enjoy. On any given day, you can enjoy, bingo, Tai Chi, educational programs, art class, corn hole, cards & dominos with friends, and they even have a pool table. Auburn Firedevils Craft Fair Fundraiser
Still searching for consultants and crafters for the craft show scheduled for Saturday, November 10 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. This fundraiser for the Auburn Township Volunteer Fire Department will be held at Adams Hall, Auburn Township. The Phyllis Zumkehr Portage County Clothing Center, which is located at 3377 State Route 59, Ravenna, is looking for volunteers to help with sorting, hanging and stocking clothing and helping customers. Families Understanding Addiction Program

Townhall II is holding a free educational program on the addiction and recovery process for family members. The program is for any adult who has a loved one facing addiction or living in recovery. It will be held in on Aug 11 from 9am to 3pm at the Townhall II Orchard Plaza office located 2633 OH 59 in Ravenna. Lunch will be provided. Topics include the addiction cycle, family conflict and stress recognition, stages of recovery, and the role of the family in the recovery process. Freedom Twp. Community Picnic

Freedom Township Community Picnic will be held on August 19. The First Congregational Church will hold a church service at 11 a.m. with the American Legion honoring the veterans at the War Memorial at 12 noon. A picnic will follow with chicken, soft drinks, coffee, paper products and utensils
provided by Freedom Township; also sponsored by the First Congregational Church of Freedom will be cooking hamburgers and hot dogs. Everyone is welcome and please bring a dish of your choice to pass. All are welcome and we look forward to another great turnout.

Growing Up In Mantua

JAG Alumni Banquet

It’s time to mail in reservations for the 13th annual James A. Garfield Alumni banquet. Payments and reservations must be received no later than Aug. 31 for the banquet, which will take place Sept. 15 at James A. Garfield Elementary School. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and there will be another wonderful catered dinner from Guido’s of Ravenna served at 6 p.m. The event is open to graduates and anyone who attended Freedom, Garrettsville, James A. Geauga SWCD Fall Fish Sale

The Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District is taking orders for the annual Fall Fish Sale. Whether you are stocking a new pond or replenishing an existing one, we are currently taking orders for fingerling-size largemouth bass, redear “shellcracker” sunfish, yellow perch, bluegill/sunfish mix, channel catfish, white amurs, and fathead minnows. We also sell pond safety kits and Farm Pond Management books. The Fish Sale will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2018 on the midway of the Geauga County Fairgrounds.
