Get your treasure put on the  Yard Sale map! Registration for the community yard sale is DUE by May 16th.  Registration fee is $10 and includes advertising, signs and maps. Car Care Clinic 101

Ravenna Recreation is offering Basic Car Care Clinic 101 for ages 15 through adults at Darrah’s Car Care Center, 4824 S. Prospect Street.  A qualified mechanic will assist participants in this hands-on clinic that will help you learn your car and under-the-hood information and tips.

The clinic will be held on Thursday, May 12 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.  Cost is $10 for city taxpayers (live or work in the City of Ravenna) or $15.00 for non-city taxpayers.  Min 7 and max 20.  Deadline is May 5 or until filled.  To register contact Ravenna Recreation, 330-296-2864.

 

Caveman Crawl

Stuffed Pork Chop Dinner

Marching Pride Tag Day

James A. Garfield Marching Pride band members will hit the streets and local businesses from 10  a.m. to 1  p.m.  Saturday, April  30 for Tag Day. Watch and listen for roving groups of band members who will play their instruments and collect donations throughout Garrettsville neighborhoods. Members in uniforms also will be posted at several local businesses to accept money for new uniforms and other essential band equipment. Kiwanis of the Western Reserve will present a  Pancake Breakfast  and Wildflower Walk at the Hiram College Field Station, Saturday, April 30.  Breakfast will be served from 9:00-9:30 with a guided Wildflower Walk beginning at 10:00. Community Pastor Revival

First Baptist Church, 2640 S. Canal Street, Newton Falls will be hosting a “Community Pastor Revival” event May 1-4.  Every night a different pastor from one of our Newton Falls churches will be preaching.  Sunday night will feature  Rev. Arnold Edmondson of the First Church of God.  Monday night will feature Rev. Gordon Ferguson of the Newton Falls United Methodist Church.  Tuesday night will feature Rev. Tony Kline of the Newton Falls Assembly of God and on Wednesday night Rev. Calvin Mason of the First Christian Church will be preaching.  The services begin each night at 7:00 PM and child care is provided.

For The Dogs Pancake Breakfast

For the Dogs Animal Rescue will hold a Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, May 7th at Leonard Kirtz School, 4801 Woodridge Drive in Austintown. The Pancake Breakfast begins at 8 a.m. and will continue through 11 a.m. Admission is only $7 per person for an all-you-can-eat breakfast, including pancakes, sausage, milk, orange juice, and coffee. In addition to the delicious breakfast, tickets will be available for a 50/50 raffle and Chinese Auction.  Proceeds from the event will continue to help For the Dogs, a non-profit animal rescue group, save dogs mainly from the Mahoning County Dog Pound and help raise funds for a building of our very own.

Portage County Take a Kid Fishing at Lake Hodgson is a free day open to Portage County boys and girls accompanied by an adult. Participants 16 years and younger are eligible for door prizes. The Newton Falls Little Tigers will be hosting a 4-man scramble golf outing on June 4, 2011 at the Olde Dutch Mill Golf Course. There will be an 8:00 a.m. shotgun with registration starting at 7:00. The price is $65.00 per person and will include golf, golf cart, three meals, and beverages. Ravenna Parks & Rec Safety Town

June 20 – 24

Register early for Ravenna Parks and Recreation’s Safety Town, co-sponsored by the Rotary Club.  Children entering kindergarten in the fall of 2011 will be introduced to safety awareness in a week-long program, June 20 to June 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Willyard School.  Participants will learn safety procedures and simulated situations related to traffic, pedestrian, water, weather, animal, fire, stranger, drugs & poisons, playground, gun and bicycle safety.  Fee for Ravenna city taxpayers (live or work in Ravenna city)  is $35 or $40 for Non-city taxpayers.  Deadline to register is June 3. A form must be filled out in person for registration at the Parks and Recreation Department, 530 N. Freedom, 8 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4:15 p.m., for further information contact 296-2864.

 

Art On The Hill

The DMRC (Downtown Mantua Revitalization Corporation), a 501(c)(3) organization will be hosting their 3nd Annual “Art on the Hill” event on Saturday, July 9, 2011 from 10AM-5PM. Artisan booth spaces are available for $45. We close Prospect Street for the day and line both sides of the street with artisans. Last year we had over 60 artisans with most reporting meeting or exceeding their sales expectation for the day! There is also a great variety of live entertainment all day long, a Chinese Auction, food vendors and much more!
