Annual Raccoon County Music Festival

1965

Burton – The Geauga County Historical Society proudly announces the 2016 edition of the Raccoon County Music Festival on the grounds of Century Village Museum in Burton, Ohio.  The one-day event will take place on Saturday, August 13, 2016, from noon to 7 P. M.  A wide variety of American and international music will be presented by more than ten (10) live performing artists and groups on two stages.

This amazing collection of performers will offer musical styles ranging from old-time string band to Cajun to Irish folk to Dixieland to Blues and Bluegrass.  If you are interested in early American folk music and appreciate the passion and artistry of the musicians who carry forward these musical genres, join us for a full and rewarding afternoon of relaxing enjoyment and wonderful sounds.

Workshops will be provided on banjo and clogging.  If you are so inclined, bring along your own instrument and take part in one or more of the numerous jams that take place throughout the day.  Kite flying will be demonstrated on the majestic hillside overlooking the valley of the Cuyahoga River.  Several historical buildings will be open for your viewing on the grounds of the museum as well as the museum’s Crossroads Store.  Food and drink will be available.

After almost forty years the Raccoon County Music Festival has been tradition in this county.  Geauga is derived from an Indian word meaning raccoon.  Please consider making this event one of your own traditions.

Admission is charged.  Adults, $10; ages 6 to 12, $5, ages 5 and under, free.
