Ambassadors Soccer Camp 2016—20 Years!

1656

This summer Friendship Alliance Church will celebrate 20 years of hosting an annual soccer camp.  The camp, originally known as “On Goal Soccer”, began at Settler’s Park in Bainbridge Township in 1997.  After the first few years, the name of the camp changed to Ambassadors Soccer Camp and continued at Settler’s Park until eight years ago. Now the camp is held in the field behind Friendship Alliance Church in Auburn Township at 19126 Ravenna Road (SR 44).

Mark Tuesday, July 19th-Saturday, July 23rd from 9-3 on your calendars and join in the excitement!  The 20th year celebration will make this year’s camp especially fun for the campers, with surprises planned throughout the week.

Ambassadors Soccer Camps are designed to give developing players an opportunity to learn basic and advanced skills in a fun, positive and encouraging Christian environment.  Each day at camp includes technical and tactical instruction at the individual and group levels, focusing on control, passing, heading, dribbling, shooting and defending.  Small-sided games and special age-related competitions round out the daily program.  In addition to excellent coaching, there are daily life-related “Team Talks” focused on the theme, “Making Faith Known”.  The week concludes with individual skill competitions and the highly anticipated “World Cup” tournament.

“This is my seventh year of attending camp and I can’t wait for the World Cup games!” says one veteran camper.

Another camper thinks, “my favorite parts are the skit the coaches do and when a coach is interviewed by the campers.”

The coaching staff is comprised of experienced players and coaches with national and international backgrounds. Over the years, Friendship Alliance has hosted coaches from Central and South America, Africa, Asia and Europe.  This year we look forward to another great team of coaches!
