Mantua – If you’re dreaming of a tropical get-away, but you’re unable to actually leave town, check out Sunscape Tanning and Boutique on East Prospect Street in Mantua. Now, you won’t need to rely on Mother Nature to get or maintain a gorgeous tan. The shop, which is under new management, features seven tanning beds that provide three levels of intensity, regardless of the weather outside. And with tanning packages starting at just $45 for one month of unlimited tanning, there’s no better time to check them out.
Mother/daughter duo Darlene Bowers and Christine Sedensky took over the boutique on May 1st. Sedensky, a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy, was a long-time client at the salon. When she learned of the previous owner’s desire to sell the salon, she was intrigued by the opportunity, and pitched the idea to her mom. The two were thrilled about the opportunity to work together. And the business is a family affair, with Sedensky’s step-dad/Bower’s husband helping out with cleaning and maintenance, as needed.
As you step inside, the shop feels like one you’d find while souvenir shopping on vacation in a beach town. As you enter, you’re surrounded by the scent of tanning products, and colorful, breezy clothing. In addition to tanning products, Sunscape’s boutique stocks a variety of resort-wear, scarves, purses, and jewelry. The shop is open every day except Sundays and holidays. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday you’ll find them open from Noon until 7 pm; Wednesdays and Fridays Noon until 6:30 pm and Saturdays from 10 am until 2 pm.
