Katie Hovancsek from Chimney Sweep Homeschool is the alternate, and she will replace any of the qualifiers who cannot attend the Akron Regional Bee, which will take place on Sunday, March 15 at 1:30 p.m. at the Akron Public Library. The winner of that competition will advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee, which will take place in Washington, D.C. in May.

Congratulations to all the participants, and best of luck to the finalists!
