Did You Catch It? Bi-Annual Business Showcase a Success!

Did you catch the tunes by the Tuba Troubadours?

They were the trio pumping out classy tunes in a lower register to keep up the festive mood at the Garrettsville Chamber of Commerce 11th Biennial Business showcase, held in the James A. Garfield High School gymnasium on Thursday, October 16.  Senior Mike Ebie, band director Theo Cebulla and senior Dan Anders had those shiny silver and brass babies setting an up-scale tone for the entire affair.

Say, everybody was there!  Businesses    new—Save-A-Lot, Second Style, Facet, Pasta House, Chris Cavalier—PC Repair. Jerry Kehoe (in a new incarnation)—local-but-new-to-the-showcase—Ohio Health Benefits, LLC, Northcoast Medical, Premier Designs,  Backstage Beauty, Our Towne Construction, Edward Jones Investments, Carolyn’s Cakes, Record-Courier, Sam’s Club, Urban Growers, Origami Owl, Sitko Counseling, S&K Lawn & Garden, etc.—AND the eminently reliable business folks seen every day reminding everyone of just how many goods and services are available in and around the Garrettsville area : Huntington, Middlefield and Cortland Banks, Bay Window, Business Works, McCumbers-Brady Realty, Century 21 Goldfire Realty, The Reserves at Eagle Creek, Fox Hollow,Ellerhorst-Russell Insurance, Ryser Insurance, Sky Lanes Bowling, Carlson Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, the Charles Auto Family, Kepich Ford, the Village Bookstore, Dairy Queen, IGA, Cal’s, the Italian Garden, Domino’s,   Lia Sophia Jewelry, , Perme Financial Group, Just For Kids, Denettes’s Designs, Garrettsville Animal Hospital, The Weekly Villager AND Jason Adkins the Balloon Man!

That’s not even counting the issues and services contingent :  Maplewood Career Center (Don’t forget Christmas in the Woods, coming up),Portage County District Library,  the Nelson-Garrettsville Community Cupboard, Boy Scouts, Brooks House, St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Nelson United Methodist Church, Garrettsville United Methodist Church, Camp Asbury, University Hospitals,  Robinson Memorial Hospital, Portage County Issue 3 for mental health, James A. Garfield Local School District supporting issue 24, a renewal levy,  the Garrettsville Lions Club, the Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary Club, the Village of Garrettsville, James A. Garfield Historical Society, the Portage County Park District, and the raffle in support of the Garfield track and field program.  Whew!

You could …and probably many did…browse your way around the hall while picking up pens, pencils, candy, brochures, samples(pizza, pasta, organic items,  ice cream bars, flavored water, etc.).  You could listen carefully to hear the announcement of your lucky ticket number for the Chamber of Commerce array of door prizes being announced over the hub-bub by C-of-C President, Benjamin Coll.  There was a brisk trade in tickets supporting the C-of-C scholarship fund.  There was a guy with a ukulele, there were teeny, tiny moccasins, there were chain saws (The folks at S&K wouldn’t let me try one out.  Smart move.)  It was big, it was BAAAAAAAAAAD, it was fun.  Watch for the return show in 2015.
