Many factors contribute to forest economics, but managing forest health is key to the potential value of your woodlot. Join us for an in-person Woodland Wednesdays program on February 21st at 6:00 pm at the VFW Post 1055, 6000 New Milford Road, Ravenna, OH 44266 for “Oh Deer, Is That Oak Wilt?”  This program will provide an update on oak wilt, a destructive and deadly fungal disease that is a serious threat to our northeast Ohio oaks. There will also be a review of current trends in the timber market, information about federal financial assistance programs like EQIP and CSP, along with a Q & A session on CAUV and Ohio Forest Tax Law property tax reduction programs.  The featured presenters include John Kehn, ODNR Division of Forestry, Ryan Clester, Area 11 State Forester, and Matt Kelly, Portage County Auditor.

This program is free, but registration is limited and required. Visit https://2024CAUV-OFTL.eventbrite.com to register or call Portage SWCD at 330-235-6811.

Collaborators include Natural Resources Conservation Service, Geauga, Lake, Ashtabula, Portage, and Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Division of Forestry, Farm Bureau, and Holden Forests and Gardens.
