Windham – Windham Volunteer Joint Fire District Board met for the regularly-scheduled meeting last week. The board kicked off the New Year appointing Brian Miller as the Chairman of the board. They welcomed new member Cindy Cale who was appointed by the village to serve as their representative for the year. Cale takes Cheryl Taylor’s place on the board. After approving the minutes, bank reconciliation and expenditures they set the meeting day and time. The meetings will continue to be held on the second Thursday of each month at 6pm.
In the chief’s report, Chief Rich Gano reported that there were 628 calls in 2019. Truck 2812 was out for repairs and will be back out, as the truck has heating issues in the patient area. The board agreed to continue to serve Camp JAG, however there will be a price increase. Gano reported that the ISO Inspectors contacted him and they will set a date for the inspection. The inspections determine insurance rates for the area. Gano promoted Dale Martin to EMS coordinator which gives him a $.50/hour raise. The board approved this measure. A new application was received for firefighter/medic/ fire inspector. The board approved this measure as well.
In Old Business, it was discussed that they needed to post a sign that notifies everyone who enters the station is under video surveillance as per ORC – 2933.51-2. Because of privacy issues, it was advised they follow the code. Gano will get it posted.
The fiscal officer, Jayme Neikirk submitted her resignation effective March 31 ,2020. Neikirk recommended Casey Timmons as her replacement and suggested that the board hire her part-time effective immediately while she trains for the position. The board accepted the resignation and her recommendation was also approved. They set Timmons’ rate of salary as $1100/month.
The board thanked Ron Kilgore for his service, as he will be leaving the board as soon as a replacement can be found. Ron served on the board since it was created. (six years). The board will hold a special meeting on Thursday January 16, 2020 at 6pm. The purpose of the special meeting is to appoint Kilgore’s successor. There being no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned.
