Windham – While students were enjoying their summer break, the Board of Education (BOE) was hard at work looking for a new treasurer, which they found. The Windham Board of Education hired Garfield graduate Samantha Pochedly as their treasurer replacing Dawn Altman who had served in the position for the last several years. Dawn left the district to take a position closer to her home.
Ms. Pochedly assumed the role as treasurer on August 1, 2012 and will be responsible for all the district finances, along with managing the foodservice.
Pochedly’s previous experience includes treasurer /chief financial officer (CFO) at Newton Falls School District where she is currently the interim treasurer there, until they find a replacement. Pochedly also served as treasurer at Brookfield Schools 2007-2008 and accounts receivable / payable for Garfield School District from 2004-2007
Ms Pochedly is a J. A. Garfield graduate and attended Hiram College, received her B.A in Economics, with a minor in Statistics. She went on to Ashland University and received her Masters in School Treasurer and Business Management.
Ms. Pochedly stated that, she has enjoyed learning the ropes of the new position and everyone has been friendly and helpful. So far, she likes Windham a lot and it is a good fit for her. Pochedly looks forward to the challenges the new school year will bring and is excited to be a part of the district.
