William R. Williams, Age 84, of Newbury Twp., OH, died peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Wed., August 15, 2018, at his residence. He was born in Ravenna, OH, on May 4, 1934 to Kenneth and Dorothy (nee: Miller) Williams. Bill served in the US Army during the Korean War as an SP3 Medic, and married Mary Dowling during a furlough on Sept. 17, 1955, at the Newbury United Community Church.
Bill worked for 34 years as an Electrician for Cleveland Illuminating Company in Concord and retired in 1990. Bill loved helping others in the community. He was one of the first EMT Paramedics to be trained at Richmond Heights Hospital in 1975. For 20 years, Bill was a firefighter for Newbury Volunteer Fire Department, and enjoyed teaching CPR-First Aide classes with the American Red Cross. He also drove for 15 years for Geauga Transit. Bill was active in 4H with his four daughters and enjoyed being “volunteered” by them to do many projects. An avid coin collector, Bill loved finding unique and specialized coins. Bill had a love for collecting photography slides.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mary of Newbury Twp., four daughters, Patricia Williams of Waco, TX; Laura Alberta (Don) of Valrico, FL; Denise Bly (Doug) of Garrettsville, OH; and Michelle Dorazio (Al) of Wickliffe, OH; 10 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents, and one sister Leona Herrington.
