William R. Long, age 88, of Twinsburg, passed away on June 8, 2021. He was born on October 18, 1932, in Northfield to General Earl and Hazel (nee Dye) Long.
He married Grace Ann Andrews and they raised five children. He retired on January 31, 1970, after 20 years of service with the U.S. Army as a crypto technician. After retiring from service, Bill returned to Garrettsville with his family and was employed by Pelsue Drug Store. Years later, he moved to Orlando, Florida and worked at the University of Central Florida.
He enjoyed being a member of the Newton Falls chapters of the V.F.W. Post #3332 and AMVETS and Bill loved playing cards.
Bill will be missed by his children, Nancy (Donald) Baldwin, Karen (Timothy) Hill, William Long, II, Linda (Jim) Starkey, and Sandra Long; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Grace Ann, with whom he was blessed to share 58 years of marriage; his parents; siblings, Edna Botkin, Charles Long, Robert Long, and James Long.
Friends joined the family for a Graveside Service with Military Honors on Tuesday, June 15, at 2:00 pm at Park Cemetery in Garrettsville, OH.
