Garfield Hotstove Baseball Sign-Ups

Any player who will be 5 to 14 years old on 5-31-13 can sign up on  March 2 at Garrettsville Village Hall from 9 am-noon. T-ball (ages 5-6) cost is $60, Coach Pitch (ages 7-8) cost is $70, and H-F (ages 9-14) cost is $85. A copy of your child’s birth certificate must be turned in at the time of sign-ups if they have not played before. There will be a late sign-up fee of $75 per child after March 9. Registration for children entering the Newton Falls School System for the 2013-2014 school year (including K students and transfer students) will be held: March 11-15 from 8:30-11:30 am & 12:30-2:30 pm each day. You do NOT need an appointment, but please only come during these times.  It is not necessary to bring your child at this time. You should bring the following items with you when registering: Your child’s legal birth certificate, Immunization records, Proof of residency (driver’s license, utility bill, etc), Child’s Social Security Number, Custody papers (if applicable)

 

Do We Know Dewey?

Do We Know Dewey? Program will be Mar 12 at 4 pm at the Burton Public Library. The Dewey Decimal System is used by 95% of public and school libraries and is the key to finding the information that you need worldwide.  Designed for ages 10 – 100, this program will serve as an introduction or a refresher course to the Dewey Decimal System.  This will be a fun, hands-on approach with prizes!  Please call the Burton Public Library to register: 440-834-4466.

 

Board of Trustees’ Meeting

Windham Athletic Boosters Casino  Bus Trip

Join the Windham Athletic Boosters as they head to Presque Isle in Erie, PA. All proceeds benefit the building of the baseball / softball field. Trip is March 16th. Bus leaves from Windham High School at 4 pm and returns by 1 am. Cost is $40 per ticket. Getting Started With Backyard Chickens

Spring is just around the corner, and that means fluffy chicks will soon be arriving in local feed stores.  The Garrettsville Library is pleased to announce a program for prospective chicken owners.  “Getting Started with Backyard Chickens” will be presented on Mar 16 at 11:00 am.  Participants will learn the basics of backyard flock keeping, from setting up the brooder box to maintenance of a mature egg-laying flock.  A take home packet will be provided.  This program is geared towards the egg-laying flock; meat production will not be covered.  Registration is limited, so call early to register for this fun and informative gathering.  Ages 16 and up may attend. All You Can Eat Pancakes

BioBuddies: Eggs Alive!

BioBuddies is a discovery-based program for preschool age children (3-5 years old) to experience the wonders of the natural world around them. The theme this spring is Eggs Alive! Children will explore chickens, eggs and the observation of the life  inside as they incubate eggs and hatch chicks. All sessions meet from 1:00-2:30pm at Hiram College. Akron’s Autism 5k and Walk, formerly Akron Walks for Autism, is the Autism Society of Greater Akron’s premier fundraising and autism awareness event.  Money raised stays local to support individuals with autism, their families, and the professionals who support them.  The event will be held on June 15 at Lock 3 in downtown Akron.  The Autism Society of Greater Akron provides vital programs and services to families living with autism in Summit, Stark, Wayne, Portage and Medina counties and is part of the Autism Society of Ohio.
