The Senior Center is open for breakfast Mondays from 7a-Noon. A full menu is offered from scrambled eggs to Belgian waffles. A free meal is open to all residents in Mantua, Garrettsville, Hiram, and surrounding areas. Anyone who needs to stretch their food dollars, or enjoys a homemade meal, is invited. The meal is from 5-6:30pm, the last Thursday of the month, January through October, at Mantua Center Christian Church, 4118 State Route 82 in Mantua Township. Christ Lutheran Church is sponsoring the Mantua Variety Market on Saturdays from 9am – 1pm at 10827 N Main St., Mantua. Season runs from May 17 – August 23 (closed July 5). A wide selection of items can be sold – bakery, produce, crafts, plants, syrup, eggs, honey, garage sale items, etc. Vendors are needed. Fee is $1 per date. First Baptist Church, 2640 S. Canal Street, Newton Falls will be hosting a “Community Outreach Giveaway” on Friday and Saturday, August 15-16 from 9 AM to 3 PM each day. The event is a “reverse Garage Sale” type-event where items are given away free. Household items, knick-knacks, etc. will be available for any interested individuals.

New Square Dance Sessions

The Friendly Squares , a local square dance group dedicated to keeping alive the uniquely American artform of square dancing, will begin a new year of weekly lessons.The introductory session will be Tuesday, Sept.9th from 7 to 9 PM.
