Farmington Senior Center Breakfasts

Mondays

The Senior Center is open for breakfast Mondays from 7a-Noon. A full menu is offered from scrambled eggs to Belgian waffles. Lunches are served T-TH from 11a-1p only $5-plate includes homemade soup or salad, entrée, dessert and beverage. Menu for the week is posted on Facebook, or just call 330-889-2733.

Young At Heart Meetings

3rd Tues of Month

Young at Heart  organization for 55 and older, meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month at the Immaculate Conception Parish Hall.  We gather for meals, meeting and fellowship.  All denominations are welcome.  To attend or for more information call Jackie 330-569-4048.

BINGO! At St. Ambrose

First & Third Tuesday

Al Anon Meetings

What can you do when someone close to you drinks too much? Al Anon may be able to help. We meet Tuesdays 7:30 -8:30 pm at the Renaissance Center 9005 Wilverne in Windham or Wednesday 7-8 pm at Hilltop Christian Church, 4572 Prospect in Mantua. Meetings are completely confidential.

Crestwood Community Center

Every Wednesday from 10:30-4:00 starting September 4, 2024. Drop by and visit!  Weekly activities include guided nature walks, card games, bingo, Dominoes, puzzles, and book swaps.  Meet us at Mantua Lodge, Buchert Park, 4810 E. Time For Tots

2nd & 4th Wednesdays

Children ages 2-5 (adults stay for fun, siblings welcome) are invited to Time for Tots on the 2nd & 4th Wednesdays of each month from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Our goal is to provide a safe indoor environment for young children to play, craft, enjoy music & burn energy.  Time for Tots will run from 9/11/24 – 5/28/25. We will not meet if Ravenna Schools are closed. No need to sign up for this free event, just stop in and enjoy the fun. Call 330-297-6424 with questions. Loaves and Fishes Community Meal  

Last Thursday of Month

A free meal is open to all residents in Mantua, Garrettsville, Hiram, and surrounding areas. Anyone who needs to stretch their food dollars, or enjoys a homemade meal, is invited. The meal is from 5-6:30pm, the last Thursday of the month, January through October, at Mantua Center Christian Church, 4118 State Route 82 in Mantua Township. We hope to see you there for good food and conversation.

American Legion Fish Fry

Friends of the Garrettsville Library April 2025 Book Sale

April 9 – 12

The Friends of the Garrettsville Library Book Sale will be held on the following dates: Friends ‘Members Only’ Preview on Wednesday, April 9, from 2 to 6 pm; Open to the public Thursday, April 10, and Friday, April 11, from 10 am to 6 pm; Saturday, April 12 from 10 am to 2 pm. All items are $.25 to $1.00. Saturday is BAG DAY! Bring your own bag and fill it for $5.00. Membership in the Friends is just $5 per year and may be purchased at the door or in advance at the library. Cash donations are always welcome and appreciated. MaRSI’s 2nd Friday Dinner

The Mantua Restoration Society (MaRSI) is holding their 2nd Friday Dinner, from 4 -7pm, on April 11, 2025.  This month’s dinner features casseroles, hot soup, salads, and scrumptious desserts.  The Mantua Restoration Society is not permitted to charge a set amount and cannot mention what similar food might cost in a restaurant.  Donations are graciously accepted.  Dining in or carryout is available.  The dinner is being held at the Mantua Center School Annex located at 11741 Mantua Center Road, Mantua Township.  Come join us!

EGG FEST 2025!

On April 12th at 11 am, The Fountain Church located at 12888 State Route 88, will be holding their annual EGG FEST! The event is completely FREE and all done inside! The event resembles a “Trunk or Truck” style event. Upon arriving,each child will be given their own Easter tote bag. ITS COMPLETELY FREE for kids through age 12! Passion of the Christ  — Movie 

April 18

On Good Friday April 18,2025 at 6:30 The Fountain Church will be showing the movie PASSION OF THE CHRIST, located 12888 State Route 88, Garrettsville ( north of Route 305)  The event is FREE to the public. The movie is rated R- due to the explicit graphics, therefore parental accompanying is required.  There will be separate secured child care supervision opportunity offered for children under 12 years of age where they will be offered a time of fun and games, with a small snack during the showing of the movie. Swiss Steak Dinner

April 26

First Congregational Church UCC in Rootstown is having our monthly fund-raiser dinner on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 4 to 6 pm.  Sit down dinners are being served again, as well as carry-out and drive thru.  Dinners are $15.00 and this month includes Swiss steak,  mashed potatoes and gravy, salad, cole slaw, applesauce, green beans, corn, roll and dessert.  The church is located at 4022 St Rt 44 in Rootstown Center.  If you are partaking in the drive-thru service, please enter from St Rt 44

Portage County Historical Society Presentation

April 26

History of the 1881 Portage County Courthouse and the stonecutters who made it. Join us for a PowerPoint presentation about the courthouse and the workers who carved the stones to build it. Presented by Kevin Gray.  On April 26 at 2:00 p.m. the Portage County Historical Society will present a program on the courthouse stonecutters. We will also be open during our regular hours 9:30 a.m. till noon for those who want to do research and tour the museum. This program is free to the public but donations are always encouraged. Hiram RCCA Rummage Sale

May 2 & 3

The Hiram RCCA will be having its annual spring rummage sale on May 2 and 3, from 9 AM to 4 PM. We have men’s, women’s, children’s, infant and toddler clothing, decor, household items, linens, crafting, holiday items, electronics, and vintage and collectibles. Oh and don’t forget the man stuff. Way too much to list,  so come and rummage with us. Because you never know what kind of treasure you’ll find. We are located at 6337 Winchell Rd., Hiram, Ohio. 

Curtains up Theatre Auditions

May 6 & 8

The Garrettsville Curtains up Theatre is holding auditions for their production of “The Play that Goes Wrong” on May 6 and 8, 2025 at 6:30pm in The James A Garfield Auditorium. 3 adult males, 3 adult females and assorted young adults age 14 plus. JAG IDEA Funds Public Meeting
