Craft Show Vendors are wanted for a show on Nov 8 from 4:30-9 and Nov 9th 9 – 3:00 at the Ravenna Elks Club 776 North Freedom Street Ravenna. Contact 330.697.8863 for an application. Cost is $55 and covers both days.

Farmington Senior Center Breakfasts

Mondays

The Senior Center is open for breakfast Mondays from 7a-Noon. A full menu is offered from scrambled eggs to Belgian waffles. Lunches are served T-TH from 11a-1p only $5-plate includes homemade soup or salad, entrée, dessert and beverage. Menu for the week is posted on Facebook, or just call 330-889-2733.

Mantua Farmers Market

Saturdays

The Mantua Farmers Market Regular Season will be held on Saturdays from July 13 to September 21 9AM to 1 PM at Christ Lutheran Church, 10827 North Main Street, Mantua. The Market features a wide variety of items. Vendors are need at $5.00 a Saturday. Fees go toward Church projects. For information call Diane 330-274-2868.

Young At Heart Meetings

Al Anon Meetings

What can you do when someone close to you drinks too much? Al Anon may be able to help. We meet Tuesdays 7:30 -8:30 pm at the Renaissance Center 9005 Wilverne in Windham or Wednesday 7-8 pm at Hilltop Christian Church, 4572 Prospect in Mantua. Meetings are completely confidential.

Wednesday Night Walk-Abouts

WEDNESDAY NIGHT WALK-ABOUTS for ADULTS.  Beginning on August 7th and continuing on each of the four Wednesdays in August,  come on up to the Field Station at 7pm for an after-dinner guided walk.  We can keep the “guided” part to a minimum and just make it a date night.  We’ll cover 2 miles, more or less, depending on our mood.  These are not day camp or school group programs.  They are for adults to walk off dinner, shake off the day, get over that hump, and recharge.   The Hiram College Field Station is located on Wheeler Road. 

Time For Tots

2nd & 4th Wednesdays

Children ages 2-5 (adults stay for fun, siblings welcome) are invited to Time for Tots on the 2nd & 4th Wednesdays of each month from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Our goal is to provide a safe indoor environment for young children to play, craft, enjoy music & burn energy.  Time for Tots will run from 9/11/24 – 5/28/25. We will not meet if Ravenna Schools are closed. No need to sign up for this free event, just stop in and enjoy the fun. Call 330-297-6424 with questions. Loaves and Fishes Community Meal

A free meal is open to all residents in Mantua, Garrettsville, Hiram, and surrounding areas. Anyone who needs to stretch their food dollars, or enjoys a homemade meal, is invited. The meal is from 5-6:30pm, the last Thursday of the month, January through October, at Mantua Center Christian Church, 4118 State Route 82 in Mantua Township. We hope to see you there for good food and conversation.

Pickleball Beginner Clinics 

First Saturday of Month 

PICKLEBALL ENTHUSIASTS! The pickleball courts are open! And to assist you in pursuing your interest, the Garrettsville Pickleball Association is sponsoring a Beginners’ Clinic every first Saturday of the month,  from 10-12, weather permitting. Windham UMC Free Dinner

Windham United Methodist Church will be having their monthly free dinner for August on August 30, 2024.  Pick up is from 4 – 5 pm.  Drive thru only. The menu is Chili dogs, baked beans, pasta salad and cake.  Windham UMC is located at 9051 N. HIRAM RCCA RUMMAGE SALE

Our annual fall rummage sale will be held on September 6 and 7, from 9 AM to 4 PM. We have totes of free stuff, along with men’s, women’s, children’s, infant and toddler clothing, decor, household items, linens, crafting, holiday items, electronics, vintage and collectibles, and of course man stuff. We have a large amount of infant and toddler clothing this time including Amish infant/toddler items. Way too much for us to even list, so come and rummage with us. You never know what kind of treasure you will find. We are located at 6337 Winchell Rd. in Hiram, Ohio. We hope to see you there!

Portage County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society Meeting

The Portage County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet on Saturday, Sep-tember 7, 2024 at the Portage County Historical Society, 6549 N. Chestnut St in Ravenna Ohio at 10:00 a.m.   John Tracy Cunningham returns with a program, “Introduction to the Genetics of the Human Color Scheme: Skin Color, Hair Color, Eye Color; a brief tutorial on DNA basics & history of how peoples moved into Europe and contributed to today’s gen-eral coloring.  The program is free and open to anyone interested in genealogy or historical research. 

Ukrainian Native to Story in Jefferson

Burton Public Library is looking for entries for the 2024 Burton Art Show to be held October 8-12 at the Burton Public Library, Burton, OH.

ENTRY NIGHTS:  Sept 26 Thurs 9-7:45pm, Sept 27 Fri 9-4:45pm, Sept 28 Sat 10-1:45pm

JUDGES: Karen Leonard (Art & 3-D Art), Heidi Campany (Photography)

PLACE: Burton Public Library, 14588 W. Park St., Burton, OH

FEES: $10/item or $25 for 3 items, maximum 3 items per artist

Artists (16 yrs. & older) that live, work, or attend school in Geauga, Lake, or Portage counties are invited to submit their work.
