Overeaters Anonymous Meetings

Mondays

Overeaters Anonymous (a community of people who support each other in order to recover from compulsive eating and food behaviors) meets in person every Monday, except legal holidays, at 10:00AM in the parlor of the First Presbyterian Church of Warren, 256 Mahoning Av NW, Warren, OH 44483. Please enter through the “Fellowship Hall” entrance on driveway. We look forward to meeting you! 

Farmington Senior Center Breakfasts

Mondays

The Senior Center is open for breakfast Mondays from 7a-Noon. A full menu is offered from scrambled eggs to Belgian waffles. Lunches are served T-TH from 11a-1p only $5-plate includes homemade soup or salad, entrée, dessert and beverage. Menu for the week is posted on Facebook, or just call 330-889-2733.

BINGO! At St. Ambrose

First & Third Tuesday

Come to St. Ambrose for Bingo, the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. Doors open at 5:45pm and Early Bird starts at 6:45. Players must be 18 or over. Reasonably priced concessions. St. Ambrose is located at 10692 Freedom St., Garrettsville. Check out our Facebook page for additional information.

Al Anon Meetings

Tuesdays & Wednesdays

What can you do when someone close to you drinks too much? Al Anon may be able to help. We meet Tuesdays 7:30 -8:30 pm at the Renaissance Center 9005 Wilverne in Windham or Wednesday 7-8 pm at Hilltop Christian Church, 4572 Prospect in Mantua. Meetings are completely confidential.

Free Community Meal

Third Wednesday 

Christ Lutheran Church 10827 Main St, Mantua will be offering their  Free Community Meal on on the third Wednesday of the month  from 5-6:30 pm. Please come and enjoy a wonderful meal and a  chance to visit with friends. For more info call the church at 330 274 2849.

A free meal is open to all residents in Mantua, Garrettsville, Hiram, and surrounding areas. Anyone who needs to stretch their food dollars, or enjoys a homemade meal, is invited. The meal is from 5-6:30pm, the last Thursday of the month, January through October, at Mantua Center Christian Church, 4118 State Route 82 in Mantua Township. We hope to see you there for good food and conversation.

Young At Heart Meetings

The Great Gathering of the Letters

1st & 3rd Saturdays 

Come add your stories, memories, or hopes for the future to the new Time Capsule. The James A. Garfield Historical Society will be installing a time capsule on September 21, 2024, to be opened in 80 years – Garrettsville’s 300th birthday.  We have archival paper and pens to better preserve your letter for future generations of Garrettsville/Nelson/Freedom.  Submit letters by visiting the Mott Building, 8107 Main St, Garrettsville – 1st and 3rd Saturdays each month from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, or look for our table at the Garrettsville Farmer’s Market June 6th & 20th. Mantua Historical Society

Thursdays in May

The Mantua Historical Society is continuing their weekly gatherings to learn local history, preserve it, plan events, and coordinate efforts with other organizations.  In May we are working on letters from the Tinker family and boxes containing Crestwood memorabilia. Barbeque Science

Friends of the Garrettsville Library are presenting a talk about the science and art of Barbeque. Meat cooked low and slow over a fire is an American tradition. Great barbeque is an art, but there is a lot of science to it as well.  Join us to learn about the science behind what tastes so good. Benefit for Sam McGarvey

On Saturday May 18th at 7pm there will be a Benefit for Sam McGarvey at Skylane Bowling Garrettsville. Silent Auction, 50/50 raffle, $15.00 cover charge will include Pizza and one drink voucher with 1- $100.00 cash door prize. Music provided by The Arrow Band. Anyone who would like to donate for the silent auction can drop it off to Aaron King at Skylane Bowling Alley. Any monetary donations can be sent directly to Sam at his P.O. Swiss Steak Dinner

May 18

First Congregational Church UCC in Rootstown is having our last fund-raiser drive-thru dinner of the season on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 4 to 6 pm.  Dinners are $14.00 and include Swiss steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, salad, cole slaw, applesauce, green beans, corn, roll and cake.  Please enter from St Rt 44.  The church is located at 4022 St Rt 44 in Rootstown Center.

JAG Band Concert

Mark your calendars for a musical extravaganza at Garfield High School Gym on May 19 at 2 pm as the James A. Garfield District presents the “Bands in the Round Concert.” Featuring performances by the 5th, 6th, Middle School, and High School bands, this unique event invites you to experience the dynamic sounds of our talented young musicians from every angle.

God Provides A Meal

Hiram Trail Work Day

June 4

Hiram Trail Work Day – June 4th, 5:00-7:00 PM. Meet at Gelbke Fine Arts Center parking lot (12000 Winrock Dr). Help expand the public trail system at Hiram College/Village. Work will include raking and clearing logs and brush. Bring work clothes, gloves, and water.
