DMRC 2024 Reverse Raffle

The Mantua DMRC (Downtown Mantua Revitiliization Corporation) is holding a Reverse Raffle on April 13, at Hughs Hall, associated with St. Joseph Church, Mantua.   Only 100 tickets will be sold for a chance at winning the Grand Prize of $1,200.  Tickets are $120. for a couple which includes two dinners and open bar.  Also available will be 50/50, Sideboards,Bingo, and Lucky 7 drawings.  Check the RevitilizeMantua.org website for purchasing tickets on line or contact Paula Tubalkain by text at 440-785-3728.

Overeaters Anonymous Meetings

Overeaters Anonymous (a community of people who support each other in order to recover from compulsive eating and food behaviors) meets in person every Monday, except legal holidays, at 10:00AM in the parlor of the First Presbyterian Church of Warren, 256 Mahoning Av NW, Warren, OH 44483. Farmington Senior Center Breakfasts

Mondays

The Senior Center is open for breakfast Mondays from 7a-Noon. A full menu is offered from scrambled eggs to Belgian waffles. Lunches are served T-TH from 11a-1p only $5-plate includes homemade soup or salad, entrée, dessert and beverage. Menu for the week is posted on Facebook, or just call 330-889-2733.

Come experience a safe indoor environment where children ages 2 – 5 can play, craft, enjoy music and burn energy (adults stay for fun, siblings welcome).  We will not meet if Ravenna Schools are closed. Pickleball Begginer Clinics

PICKLEBALL ENTHUSIASTS!  The pickleball courts are open!  And to assist you in pursuing your interest, the Garrettsville Pickleball Association is sponsoring a Beginners’ Clinic every first Saturday of the month, starting April 6th, from 10-12, weather permitting.  This will last throughout the summer.  Paddles and balls will be provided if needed. St Ambrose KofC  Easter Egg Hunt

The St Ambrose Knights of Columbus are hosting a free community Easter Egg Hunt for Children on March 23rd at 10:00 AM. In addition our Youth Group will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast from 9:00-11:00 Am Cost is $7.00 for adults, $5.00 for Children and Under 2 free. Come on out for the hunt and support our youth as well.

Swiss Steak Dinner

First Congregational Church UCC in Rootstown is having our fund-raiser drive-thru dinner on Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 4 to 6 pm.  Dinners are $14.00 and include Swiss steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, salad, cole slaw, applesauce, green beans, corn, roll and cake.  Please enter from St Rt 44.  The church is located at 4022 St Rt 44 in Rootstown Center.

Loaves and Fishes Community Meal

On the last Thursday of the month a free meal is open to all residents in Mantua, Garrettsville, Hiram, and surrounding areas.  Anyone who needs to stretch their food dollars, or enjoys a homemade meal, is cordially invited to come eat and enjoy some fellowship.  The meal is from 5 – 6:30pm, the Last Thursday of each month January through October at Mantua Center Christian Church, 4118 State Route 82 in Mantua Township.  Come join us!

God Provides A Meal

On March 29, 2024, Windham United Methodist Church will be having their monthly free meal.  The menu for March is Tuna Noodle Casserole, Peach cups, Roll and Cake.  THe Meal is pick up only at the WIndham UMC, 9051 N. Main Street, WIndham, Ohio 44231.  Pick up time is 4:00pm to 5:00 pm.   The meal is free but must be reserved ahead of time.  If you are interested, please call Sandi Fordyce at 330-697-3288.  Be prepared to  list the members of your household with Address and birthdates.  No financial questions will be asked.   

Portage County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society Meeting

April 6             

The Portage County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the Portage County Historical Society, 6549 N. Chestnut St in Ravenna Ohio at 10:00 a.m.  

The guest speaker will be John T. Cunningham, a member and trustee of the Ohio Genealogical Society who will present a program on “The Effective Use of FamilySearch.” 

Familysearch.com is a free genealogy website with countless records and Cunningham will share ideas on how to navigate the site for the best research results.  

The May 4, 2024 program will feature Kelli Bergheimer, speaking on “Where can you find more genealogy education?” The different modes of genealogy education– webinar, conference, meetings, institutes, and courses. Bergheimer is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and the Genealogical Speaker’s Guild.

Eclipse Party At Windham UMC

Windham UMC will be hosting an Eclipse Party on Monday, April 8, 2024 from 12 – 4.  It will be held in parking lot of the church at 9051 N. Main Street, Windham, Ohio 44288.  It will be open to the public and light refreshments will be provided.  PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN ECLIPSE GLASSES AND LAWN CHAIR.
