Be A Part of a Unique Experience

Starting Sept 7

Are you looking for a new and unique church experience?  The First Church of God of Windham is restarting with a different format and a new church plant type of experience.  If you would like to be a part of forming the “new” Church of God they will be moving all activities including planning, small group Bible studies, free meals and other outreach events to Saturday.  The new format will begin Saturday, September 7th with their monthly free dinner at 5pm.  They will again have a cookout style dinner with s’mores and discussion around the campfire.  Everyone is welcome to attend and be a part of restarting this ministry to and for the Windham area.  The church is located at 9016 N Main St in Windham.  Weekly meetings and Bible studies will continue each Saturday evening at 5pm at the pastor’s home next to the church.  If you have any questions or would like more information call 330-671-1426

 

Hiram College Water Dogs Signups

On Sunday afternoons from:  2 – 3 pm, 3 – 4 pm, 4 – 5 pm, 5 – 6 pm there will be swim lessons for all levels, all hours. Lessons are 45 minutes with 15 minutes of free time at the end. Sept 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, and October 6th. Cost is $50.00 per Child for all 5 lessons for ages 4 years and older. Sign-ups will be Sept 7th, from 2:30-5:30pm at the Hiram College Pool. Crestwood Raffle Fundraiser

The Crestwood Band Patrons and Scarlet Guard Marching Band are holding a raffle fundraiser.  The winning numbers will be drawn during the first CHS home football game on Aug 30th – Winner need not be present to claim prize. Hand Portrait Display

The Newton Falls Public Library is currently displaying the 2013 Hand Portraits in the lobby exhibit case. The portraits are the product of a collaborative project between visual and language arts students from Newton Falls High School and volunteer residents from Laurie Ann’s Nursing Home. Come by and see these wonderful works of art!

 

Master Gardener Volunteers at The Great Geauga County Fair

It’s here, The Great Geauga County Fair!  Fair goers are invited to visit the Master Gardener booth in the Agriculture Building, , August 29th -September 2nd. This year’s theme, Bloom Where You are Planted!, will feature unique and creative ideas for gardens, both big and small.  The Master Gardener family friendly booth is an annual must-see Fair experience!  Master Gardener Volunteers will be on duty to answer your gardening questions.

Labor Day Fun Run

Labor Day 4-mile Run and 2-mile Walk in Newton Falls.  This Kiwanis event will benefit the Senior Citizens’ Van Fund. Crescendo Club Meeting

Chicken Dinner

The Southington UMC (routes 305 & 534) will be holding a chicken dinner Sept 4th from 3:30-6pm. The menu includes ¼ chicken, escalloped potatoes, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw and homemade desserts. Cost is $8 for adults, and $4 for children’s chicken tender meal (ages 4-10), children 3 and under eat free. Carry outs will be available, call the church at 330-898-2156.

Come join the Ravenna Circulators and learn western style square dancing to the music of the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and today’s hits. Mantua Potato Stomp

35th Annual Mantua Potato Stomp will be Sept 7th. New this year a 3.5 mile fun run in honor of 35th anniversary! A distance for everyone! 1 mile fun run at 8:30 am and 3.5 mile and 9 mile at 9 am. Chicken BBQ at Potato Fest

The members of the Hilltop Christian Church on W. Prospect St. in Mantua will, again, be serving their annual Chicken BBQ during the Mantua Potato Festival.  It will take place at the church on Saturday, September 7th from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 pm (or until we run out of chicken!). The dinner consists of 1/2 chicken, green beans, homemade potato salad, rolls, homemade pie and beverage. The cost is $9.00 for adults, $5.00 for children 4 – 12; children 3 and under are free.

 

Monthly Dance

Mortgage Burning

The First Congregational Church, 612 W. Broad St. Newton falls, will hold a mortgage burning celebration on Sept 8th. Members and guests are invited to attend the regular service at 10:30am, followed by the mortgage burning. A dinner, by invitation only will follow at noon.

Knights of Columbus Council #3350 is having an all you can eat spaghetti dinner on Sept 8th at Saint Mary’s social hall, 120 Maple Dr. Newton Falls, from 12-3pm. Volunteers Needed

Volunteers Needed: Geauga Co. Job and Family Services are looking for caring, motivated adults who would like to make a difference in a child’s life. The Volunteer Tutoring program matches volunteers with local elementary students who need help in basic reading and math. Volunteers will be required to attend training at Geauga Co. Job and Family Services and complete a criminal background check. The training will take place on Sept 12th at 9 am. Garfield Alumni Banquet

Payment and reservations for the 8th Annual Garfield Alumni Banquet are due by Sept 2, 2013.  Postcards were mailed out earlier this summer for the upcoming event.  The banquet will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the J.A. The First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Ravenna is gearing up for it’s 3rd Annual Craft Show on Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 9 am

items of every kind; quilts; floral arraingments and personaled art framed and printed at the show.
