Picnic in the Park
Thursdays
No school, no lunch?  Hilltop Christian Church can help! This summer one day of each week we will be serving lunch at the Mantua Village Park.  Picnic in the park is free & open to all, kids and adults.  Serving Thursdays  through August 1st. Serving times are 12:00pm to 1:30pm. Play in the park and have lunch too!  See you there!

Warren Courthouse Square

Every Saturday this summer, beginning July 7th, there will be a whole lot of fun at Courthouse Square.  There will be Art in the Park, sponsored by the Trumbull Art Gallery, free for children and teens.  Ages 4-12 will meet from 1pm-2pm, and teens 13 and up will meet from 2pm-3pm.  At 5 pm there will be Happy Hour painting for adults ($25 fee).  Chess in the Park, sponsored by Chess Is Life, will take place from 3pm-5pm.  Play with this local chess group, or bring a friend.  There are free chess lessons offered for kids.  From 3pm – 5pm the Trumbull County YMCA will have bocce, cornhole, croquet, frisbee, and other lawn games.  In addition, there will occasionally be other events – you can only find out what they are by showing up!

Middlefield Chamber 50/50 Raffle

50/50 Raffle Tickets for sale by the Middlefield Chamber of Commerce members from now until July 27th, when the drawing will be done at the Middlefield Summer Fest.  Tickets are $5 each, or 5 tickets for $20.  You can buy your ticket from Chamber members and also at the Middlefield Summer Fest, which is 11 am to 10 pm at the Middlefield Fire Department property. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
July 19 & 20
The Garrettsville Curtains up Theatre will present “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” on July 19, 20th at 7pm in the James A. Garfield, Iva Walker Auditorium – starring Megan Ryser as Snow White and Ben Vizy as the Prince.  Direction of this production is by Justin Steck and Music Direction by Eric Juzkiw.  This production is a fairy tale play by Jessie Braham White based on the story by the Brothers Grimm. Tickets may be purchased at the door for Adults $10, Children under 12 and seniors over 65 $7 and groups of 15 or more $5 per person. Youth Soccer Practice

Calling all youth soccer players in grades 2 thru 8.  There will be soccer open fields from 6:30 – 8 p.m. on July 21st, & 28th at the Brosius Road soccer fields.  Shin guards are required and bring a soccer ball and water bottle.  We will practice foot skills and go through different drills then play a game.  We are also looking for parents to help.  Contact Russell Thornton (russell61731@yahoo.com), Bob Finney (matrixprints@yahoo.com) or Brian Gorby (bgorby1@yahoo.com) with any questions.  Any person interested in running the Garrettsville youth soccer program please stop by or contact us.  We still have all the info needed to get the program running and have a few options to help.

Biking for the Band

Biking for the Band, bicycle poker run will be held July 20th to raise funds in support of the Crestwood Scarlet Guard Marching Band. Free Concert at Huntsburg Memorial Park

Free Concert on July 20 from 6 – 8 pm at the Huntsburg Memorial Park in the Bandstand. Fort Huntsburg Band will be performing. This concert is sponsored by Tim Frank Septic Service. This is the last concert of the summer of 2013. The Grange has refreshments in the pavilion and this is International Night with many different foods, along with a Bake Sale from The Huntsburg Congregational Church Women’s Fellowship Members.  This is a big night, lots of fun, and a chance to win at the 50/50 Raffle. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets.  This is Rain Or Shine. If it rains, the concert and all the activities will be held inside the Town Hall.  The Grange will use any proceeds from this and any other event to fund projects to benefit our community.

Mozart and Magnolias, Haydn and Hylas: The nature of Blossom

Join naturalist Bob Faber at 5:00pm to explore a new addition to The Cuyahoga Valley National Park adjacent to the Blossom Music Center. The forest contains a variety of tree species including native magnolia trees and a unique upland stand of swamp white oaks. The summer songs of the Hylas should be echoing through the forest. Explore the woodlands and then have the option to stay for a stunning musical experience as the Cleveland Orchestra performs an evening of Mozart, Hyden, and Cimarosa (tickets sold separately). The Friends of the Burton Public Library will hold two book sales in July, July 20 is a “Friends Only” preview sale from 9 a.m. until noon.  Annual Membership to the Friends of the Burton Public Library is just $5 for the year and may be purchased at this sale. Ravenna Parks and Recreation still have openings for its Youth Fall Soccer League for League U-12 Girls & U-12 Boys: Age 10 by 7/31/13. On August 3rd Portage County Chapter #600 Parents Without Partners will have a taco supper from 6:30-7:30pm and its monthly dance from 7:30-10:30pm at the Ritchie Memorial Shelter House, 109 West Avenue in Tallmadge. Event is open to the public and nonmembers are invited to join the PWP members to celebrate the “Fiesta Night” dance theme. The cost for the dance is $6 per person for members and $8 for nonmembers. Crestwood Primary School (CPS), in conjunction with their PTO, is offering Safety Town for Fall 2013 kindergarteners. The program will run from August 5 – 9 at CPS from 9 – 11:30 am and will cover fire, bus, playground safety, stranger awareness and other important topics to help your child learn to stay safe. The Garfield band department is again offering its summer music camp for all band students entering 6th through 8th grade.  The camp is August 5-9 and the students will perform a concert on August 9th at 7pm.  The cost of the camp is $35 and includes a t-shirt and a pizza party. 2nd Annual Golf Outing

The 2nd Annual Middlefield Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing is August 23rd at Grandview Golf Course.  Foursomes, scramble format, skins, proximity games, prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd places, lunch at the turn, dinner after golf.  The Chamber is non-profit and all proceeds will go directly to the School Safety Program.  Call the Chamber to register or to sponsor on different levels.  440-632-5705 or mccinfo@middlefieldcc.com.
