Manganese Levels Reduced to Safe Drinking Water Levels for All Customers
Residents Encouraged to Flush Lines to Improve Any Remaining Issues with Water Color
The Village of Windham water department in coordination with Portage County Health District and Ohio Environmental Protection Agency today, canceled the Do Not Drink Advisory for infants under 1-year-old and nursing or pregnant women.
Following repairs and treatment adjustments at the water plant, sampling throughout the system has shown levels of manganese at safe consumption levels for customers of all ages.
As the Village continues adjustments to treatment processes, customers may initially see some discoloration of water. Customers should run their tap for 5 minutes to flush their lines. Village staff also will be flushing lines at fire hydrants and other locations over the next several days to help improve water color.
