The November Board of Public Affairs meeting, led by Board President Ed Maresh, commenced at 6:30 p.m. on November 7th, saw the attendance of officials including Board Members Ben Coll and Michael Sherer, Solicitor Michele Stuck, Water Superintendent Jeff Sheehan, Mayor Rick Patrick, and Fiscal Officer Donna Love. Residents Marcia Grenig and Amy Turos were also present.
Marcia Grenig expressed concerns about a missing check for her water bill, the board provided alternative payment options to address her concern.
Approval of the minutes from the October 9, 2023 meeting followed a motion by Coll, seconded by Sherer, after a minor correction to the Executive Session entry.
Financial reports for October 2023 underwent review and unanimous approval after a motion by Sherer, seconded by Coll.
Superintendent Sheehan’s report on Water & Wastewater for October outlined progress in the WSRLA loan submission for the Windham Street Water Main Project. Measures were taken to resolve lead service issues at a property, which included the removal of obstructing trees. Efforts for lead service replacements and exploring options for a scum skimmer replacement were also discussed.
A collaboration initiative was explored as Superintendent Sheehan engaged with Ravenna City’s certified water operator, Joshua Masters, potentially aiding Garrettsville’s Water Department as an emergency back-up operator. The board unanimously approved funds for Masters’ orientation.
A one-time waiver of the sewer surcharge was approved for a resident due to a running toilet.
