Crestwood Kindergarten Registration
Call Today
Kindergarten registration packets are now available for the 2018/19 school year. Registration will be at the Crestwood Primary School on April 5, 5-7:30 pm and April 14 9 am – noon. Your child must be 5 years old by Aug 1 to enroll in kindergarten.

Grief Support Group
Sundays
Grief Group meets every Sunday at 3 pm. The meetings are held at Garrettsville United Methodist Church and last about an 1 – 1 ½ hours. Everyone is welcome. For questions you can call the church at 330-527-2055.

Families Anonymous Meeting

Park Boosters Craft Show

Freedom Community Park Boosters Spring Craft Show, Saturday, March 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Freedom Town Hall at the intersections of State Routes 88/700/303. Stuffed Pork Chop Dinner

On the 24th of March there will be a stuffed pork chop dinner at the Braceville United Methodist Church off of St. Rt. 82 in the center of Braceville. The dinner begins at 4:00 and we serve until 6:30 or when the food runs out. The dinner includes mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, cole slaw, applesauce, homemade desserts, bread, coffee, tea or punch. The cost is $10.00 for adults and $4.00 for children. Take outs are available.

Free Easter Egg Hunt & Kid’s Party

You are invited to an Easter Egg Hunt and kid’s party on March 24 from 4-6 pm at the Windham Church of Christ, 9837 Wolf Rd., Windham. Kids will make chocolate Easter candy, decorate cookies, and have an Easter egg hunt. Pictures will be taken with the Easter Bunny, and will be printed at the party and sent home with the kids. Free Easter Egg Hunt and (2) Bike Give-A-Way

The Fountain Church of God, 12888 State Rte 88, Garrettsville, will be sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt on March 24 from 11 am – 1 pm. Open to the public. There will be appropriate hunt groups ages (2-4),(5-8), (9-12). A combination meal of a hotdog, chips and soda can be purchased for $2.00, and there will be a CAKE WALK for a donation of $1.00 each. NEO Railroad Historical Society Meeting

The Northeast Ohio Railroad Historical Society will meet at the Hiram Inn on Saturday, March 24, from 6:30 to 9 PM. Pizza and drinks will be available to purchase. This group normally meets in the southern part of Portage County, but this meeting will give interested residents of the northern Portage area an opportunity to talk railroading and see railroad related slides. Easter Egg Hunt!!

Boy Scouts Annual Spaghetti Dinner

Boy Scout Troop 8 will hold its annual Spaghetti Dinner on Sunday March 25th, at the Newton Falls First Church of God from noon to 4:00pm. Each year the Boy Scouts of Troop 8 hold a Spaghetti Dinner to raise needed funds for camping registration and equipment and other operating fees. Walk in orders are welcomed and we have take out available. Adult tickets are $8.00 and children under 12 are $4.00. We look forward to seeing you there.

Pancake & Sausage Breakfast

The Atwood-Mauck American Legion Post 459, Goodwin St., Burton will be hosting pancake and sausage breakfast on March 25. The public is invited to attend. Breakfast will be held from 9 am to 1 pm.

Inspirational Spring Concert
March 25
Please join us when the Ravenna Community Choir presents an inspirational spring concert at 3:00 p.m. on Palm Sunday, March 25, at the Ravenna Assembly of God. Following the concert, guests may join the choir for refreshments in the fellowship hall of the church. The Ravenna Assembly of God is located at 6401 OH-14, Ravenna and is also accessible from Bryn Mawr Street. There is no admission fee for the concert although there is opportunity to make a love offering. There’s plenty of free parking at the church.

Easter Musical

The Easter Musical “Because He Lives” will be presented by the Adult Choir of First Baptist Church, 2640 S. Canal Street, Newton Falls on Sunday, March 25 at the 11:00 AM service. This musical, under the direction of Mrs. Phoebe Smith, includes both contemporary and traditional musical selections focusing upon the resurrection of Christ.

Palm Sunday Pancake Breakfast

Don’t miss the Annual Palm Sunday Pancake Breakfast featuring “All You Can Eat” buttermilk pancakes in Hughes Hall, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. Josephs of Mantua. This delicious meal is served with homemade toppings and/or syrup, sausage, oj, coffee, tea, or milk. Great family prices, theme basket raffles, and children’s attendance drawings are all a part of the fun. The Women’s Auxiliary of the Mantua Knights of Columbus Council #3766 will be hosting this year’s event. All proceeds benefit the Parish School of Religion at St. Joseph’s.

Appalachian Experience Bake Sale

Blue Zones are pockets of population throughout the globe where people live, longer, healthier, and happier lives. The book identifies the common denominator of these locations and explains how the concepts are able to be duplicated. “Spring into Fitness” Trail Run
March 31
Put on your running shoes or boots as we experience the Eagle Creek State Nature Preserve, 11027 Hopkins Rd. Garrettsville, OH 44231 in a totally unique and healthy way on March 31st, 2018 9:00am- 10:00am. Please dress according to the weather as the temperatures may still be cold this time of year. The goal of this event is to combine fitness with the serenity of nature. The trails at Eagle Creek are semi-unimproved (mostly bare soil) and will afford a moderate challenge when run. Easter Sunrise Service

An Outdoor Easter Sunrise Service will be held on Sunday, April 1st at 7:30 AM. This 35-40 minute service, hosted by First Baptist Church, Newton Falls, will be held at the pavilion next to the dam on Broad Street in downtown Newton Falls and will provide an opportunity to worship outdoors and celebrate Christ’s resurrection through song, spoken word and communion during the early morning hours on Easter Sunday.

Make plans to attend the 3rd Annual Safety Forces Craft & Vendor Show on April 7 from 11 am – 4 pm at the GFN Fire Department. Program on Local Civil War History
April 10
The Freedom Township Historical Society is hosting a special program on local Civil War history at 7 pm April 10 at the Freedom Community Center, 8940 S.R. 700. Civil War re-enactor Mike McCoy will talk about the 104th Ohio Regiment followed by a showing the documentary “The Sojer Boys of Portage County in the Civil War.” A Q&A session will follow the movie. The event is free and popcorn and drinks will be provided. Donations will be accepted for our schoolhouse restoration project.

Quarter Auction Fundraiser- Newton Falls

Spring Card Party Fundraiser

The Trumbull County Republican Women’s Club will host their annual “Spring Card Party” on Saturday, April 14, 2018. The event doors will open at 11:30 a.m to 2:30 p.m. This year’s card party will be in Cortland at the Cortland Christian Church located at 130 Grove Street in Cortland. Lunch is included in your ticket price. The famous salad and dessert buffet will be set up for all to partake of, with coffee, tea and water provided. Included in the day’s festivities will be a basket raffle and a 50/50. All guests will receive a door prize ticket and a chance for a great gift to take home. Tickets are $8.00 each. Celebrate Earth Day in Hiram
Everyone is invited to celebrate spring and attend the Earth Day activities on Saturday, April 21st from 10 am until 2 pm. The events will include the dedication of a new Village park, as well as a new, paved walking trail. The family-friendly festivities will include games, music, and more, so mark your calendars.
